By now, most of us have seen the pendant shades made from string. They're cool in their own right, but this idea takes things to the next level and eliminates the frustration of string sliding off. Doilies seem to be the perfect fit for this project and give a nod to the past and present at the same time.
Over at Dos Family there's been a lovely repurposing of doilies going on — and how often do you get to say that? The project is simply lovely as the small design and pattern of the doily give the final pendant shade a very luxurious and designer feel.
The idea is similar to the original tutorials we have seen for this style of craft where a doily is covered in wallpaper glue and laid on a balloon to dry. When finished, small strings hold it to a light cord which could easily house your favorite eco-friendly bulb.

White Enamel Flatwa...
WOW, all i can say is wow. This is such a great way to recycle old doilies that collect dust. Who knew you can turn it into a very beautiful, outstanding pendant shade. This can also be a fun project to do with your children.
Outstanding!
Love it!
Love this! You could even dye the doilies for a whole different vibe.
wonderful!!
Wow my grandmother passed away this year leaving boxes of doilies in varies states and we have been trying to figure out how to highlight them in a modern way - this is amazing!!
How do you change the lightbulb?
Another ideal melag01 - arrange them between 2 pieces of glass in a frame for a "stained glass" piece. Makes a great privacy insert into a bathroom window instead of a window blind.
There is a designer in my area (oz) who is making these under her design name and obviously claiming as her design. Is this your design? If so no creativity on her part at all. Great idea, gorgeous!
