Halloween is one of those seasonal holidays I have a hard time collecting decor for. Not for any reason other than the fact that space is short and the time it's actually on display seems short. This project, however, looks easily done and creates a great deal of holiday spirit without the commitment to keep them around after all the trick-or-treaters have gone.

Over at The Swell Life there's always a neat-o Halloween craft going on and this one is no different. The idea is a simple one, and perfect for all sorts of folks, even those who claim to not be crafty.
Empty bottles were spray painted with white and then a few stripes of orange and yellow. They take on the look of the beloved treat, Candy Corn. You could make a whole display for your table, your outdoor patio while the weather is still nice, or even give them as gifts filled them with sweets or flowers.

Sometimes I feel like I am the only person in the world who loves candy corn. And mallocreme pumpkins.
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who strongly dislikes being bombarded with Halloween talk/merchandise any sooner than October 1. Seriously, have you seen the stores already? Halloween crap has been out in full force since late August...
I'm actually fine with Halloween stuff starting in early September. What I'm not okay with is all the Christmas displays that started before the Halloween stuff even appeared. I like my holidays like 5-year-olds like their food -- not touching or mixed together.
As to candy corn, I hate the taste of that stuff. I think it's something you have to grow up loving, like wax lips and candy buttons. I do, however, love the look and tradition of it. And I love the bottles. I think I'll be making a few to stand opposite my inevitable carved pumpkin army!
I get none of this in Jamaica, so thank you!
