There's something magical about parents. They have this ability to turn the least likely objects into the coolest things. Take for instance these empty diaper boxes. What once was plain old cardboard is now super cool storage fit for your living room or play area!
Amy over at Positively Splendid is always looking for a way to upcycle or recycle what she can. She's recently done a bang up job with these diaper boxes with minimal supplies.
Since the boxes already provide great structure, she used spray adhesive and fabric (along with some minimal sewing), to create the look you see above. The color scheme is tailored for her living room and would be completely customizable for your own home.
These bins would be great for storage of all sorts and since you can make them in any color or add any graphics to the outside that you wish, they can also serve as a great way to help kids learn to keep things tidy. Although you can buy canvas boxes at the store, it's rare you come across one that has a rock pictured on the outside of it, letting your child know that's where his collection of "rare outdoor and playground finds" can live and have a proper home. Check out all the details at Positively Splendid!
Thanks Amy!

That's one of the best recycling jobs I've ever seen!
They are sturdy boxes so I can see how they'd be great for storage - Brilliant!
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!
wow!!
some people out their are so talented, what pretty and pratical storage.
Amazing. I love it.
Also cute is that they are numbered No.1 & No.2... precisely the original purpose of the contents of these boxes. Clever!
Um...yeah, I've got twins and about 15 empty boxes in my garage. I'm definitely taking a weekend to do this!
That is so cool that I'm almost sad that I don't have diaper boxes! ;)
I'm definitely going to keep my eyes open for sturdy boxes though.
yep I have been doing this to store keepsakes (cards, letters, etc.) I just modpodge fabric onto the boxes. also, I keep them for sending out packages (thru etsy or ebay). could also use them for toy storage...little baby blankets... the possibilities are endless! I will never buy storage boxes/baskets again!
i was taking these to the recycle. then giving my hand me down baby clothes in them. now i am definatly going to keep some of these! ty for the great idea.
I keep the handle cutouts so they are perfect for craft storage & small toys.
I use them all the time to store stuff in the attic and stuff, but it hadn't even occurred to me to make them look so pretty. Great idea.
Ooh, ooh! Now I have another idea for how to use the fabric from the matching crib bumper I'm not using: sew it around the tops of the bins, just like she did!
