I like seeing the repurposing of almost anything, but even more so when the project is extra design worthy and is something I'd make for my own home. These small alcohol bottles have been refilled with lamp oil and their lids modified to hold wicks. It's a sweet project for any outdoor space, no matter how small.

These small bottles received grommets in their lids to hold the wicks taut and burning true, while a small base was constructed for the bottles to sit in. The look is simple and green.
Although many communities have glass recycling programs, there's nothing that says you can't upcycle those bottles first before giving it over to them. This has given me some serious inspiration for my next outdoor gathering!

Shaw's Original Fir...
The link gives absolutely no DIY instructions about how he made them.
Here you go: the hardest part is finding a metal piece that holds the fuse. I found screws that are typically sold as "furniture montage screws". You can see a picture when you follow the link below. It is the 2 nd one from the left on the 2nd row:
http://www.nettobuild.dk/vaerktoj/som-skruer-og-beslag/bolte-og-motrikker.html
You only need the "tube". Drill a hole through the top so the fuse can get through. Also drill a hole through the bottle cap and place the screw through. Make sure you use the right wire as a fuse. Those are sold for this purpose.
The stand is made of 2 layers of multiplex. To create the 4 holes, use a drill with a circular saw: http://circularsawsuk.co.uk/tag/circular-saw-drill/
Then glue the two layers together. Thats it
Hope this explains how to make the lamps yourself. Guus
