We've always known that Apartment Therapy has some forward thinking readers and you just proved us right again!
Turquoise was recently named Pantone's Color of the Year for 2010, but many of you have been infusing turquoise into your decor for the past few years. It must be because you already recognized its strength - having both warm and cool tones it compliments an endless array of colors.
A roundup of how AT readers have used turquoise in their decor is after the jump.

If you are inspired by these rooms, Turquoise is one of 3,000 colors available in PANTONE’s line of superior-quality, eco-friendly high performance Dutch paints. Just search for turquoise by its PANTONE number - 15-5519. If that's not the exact hue you are looking for, it will also pull up a set of colors in that family.

got to love turquoise with red!!
I have been obsessed with turq for a few years now! I thinnk this is a good sign for 2010!
I have been adding splashes of turquoise to rooms since I was in grade 2, and painted the bookcase in my bedroom True Blue.
About bloody time! ;)
Pooh! you and me! I am going to send a picture to AT. I bought an incredible turquoise Natuzzi chair on craigslist and next to it I sat one of those Ikea shiny-red-powder-coat locker-style credenzas. It is amazing....
Ohh, turquoise, how I love thee. I've painted three apartments with the same turquoise walls, and it never gets old! It really compliments everything.
Ha! I get to keep my turquoise accent wall after all! Good thing, because with all the snow I look out on all winter, it makes me happy to see that color.
JoanneM- look forward to seeing it!

am wondering how and where to use it (after i finally buy some of course!)
Woohoo! Long Live Turquoise!
Wow... A lot of you are living La Vida Turquoise!
I don't actually LOVE it, but I really like it a LOT.
Beautiful color. And it does happen to go great with red. Love that photo with the five pugs on the sofa. Too cute!
Opps! I meant four pugs! Love 'em!
I love turq with orange, too. This clinches it: I'm using turq in the upstairs loft at the farm. Thanks, AT!
>> Ohh, turquoise, how I love thee.
Ditto to it. Can't get enough of it!
I paint a wall chocolate brown, it becomes the color of the year, I have to repaint the wall. Last year I painted my dining table turquoise, time for a new table.
I parked next to a '70s Mercedes in great shape in this color yesterday. It was just so, so pretty. I stood there admiring the car and this color.
I also have the think of Dame Edna ("Aqua. I forgot all about aqua.").
how sad for leadingedge... i can't imagine giving up things i love, just because it's the color of the year. i chose things for my home because i love love LOVE them, and don't give a hoot if it goes in or out of style.
it's seeing the color everywhere that makes me want to change.
Anyone have specific paint color recommendations?
Benjamin Moore has a gorgeous deep turquoise called Venezuelan Sea. We used it on a set of old dressers about eight years ago and we still love it.
Looks like it's going to be a good year.
@ Leadingedge
You're leading edge style is a gift and a curse.
Leading Edge,
maybe you should stick with baby-puke greens and sick-poo browns only. Those might never become color of the years!
Or just choose colors you love and not care what others think?
When did I say I change colors because I care what others think? I just get bored with seeing the same colors everywhere. I guess I should have been clearer with my first post.
Its the color that makes me most happy. I several pieces around the house that will not be going away any time soon.
I get my Turquoise fix from this woman's blog-

In fashion, turquoise has been around for a few years (I've grown out of a top I bought 2 years ago :-( .) What took Pantone so long to recognize this?
Oh look - next year it will be purple!!
I agree, I think Pantone is a few years behind the ball on this one.
I never loved turquoise in highschool, but now I love my 1960's, Chicago-made turquoise chair. Love it against the yellow walls!
I thought my latest post on how brands are embracing Pantone's 2010 Color Of The Year might be of interest to you and your readers.

I also agree that Pantone is a little late...turquoise is my favorite color, but it's been huge for a while now. I painted walls and accented w/ turquoise (and green together) 6 years ago and apparently it's not going anywhere.
That said, I love it and don't plan to change anything, but I am maturing the palette by adding smoky browns, grays and olive greens, anything that adds a little moodiness to our beloved perky color.
Using a piece of turquoise furniture in a room can make a beautifully bold statement; however Turquoise furniture such as ottomans, chairs, chaises, sofas, and headboards can be harder to find than one may think, even after searching the web. Since turquoise is the color of the year and is also my favorite color I thought I would make a comment for others like myself.
I have been working with a custom furniture designer in the UK. Her name is Elaine and her company is Obama Catering Furniture. I just adore the color turquoise and initially contacted her to have a turquoise chaise made. I had such a hard time finding anything like that in the US. This month I had her make me a turquoise and chocolate armless chair. Her furniture is BEAUTIFUL!! She can use any fabric and style imaginable and her prices are super reasonable even for shipping overseas.
If anyone is interested in seeing pics of her furniture or would like to contact her please shoot me an email at superk1216@yahoo.com.
I love turquoise also. Except I have been calling it aqua. I guess it is turquoise.
I love turquoise and bright tomato red. I didn't want anyone else to follow though.
It is still gorgeous though.
Lovely! Fresh and daring! I particularly love the bathroom, the bedroom and the adorable couch seating with the pugs and nice art work!
the stool in front of the toilet is weird.
