The people behind the up-and-coming Turtle/Turtle chair and toy love good design, and they want to bring more of it to kids' products. Inspired by the Eames' Elephant designed in the 40s, they've created a kickstarter campaign to raise funds to get their new piece to market.
Since we love to see good kids' design succeed, we've featured other products from Kickstarter before, and we think this new idea has merit, too. The Turtle/Turtle has an inspired origin: created for a charity auction for the World Wildlife Fund, the designer got such great feedback he decided to produce more. The aesthetic is minimalist, and it serves as a toy, a chair, and a design object all in one.
If you are interested in learning more or would like to pre-order one of the first Turtle/Turtles produced, visit their Kickstarter page.

My toddler/climber would get his feet stuck in the wire in about 2 seconds.
Really, really bad design. A child could get their arm or leg caught and if they fell and were trapped, they could sprain or break a limb. Not one to recommend - sorry
While I would not feel comfy with a bitty one playing with this. I think its great for a bit older kid! foot stool, sitting , playing. Just watched the viedo and LOVE the elephant chair. Great cause too. Not for my tiny toddler but perhaps a 5 yr old that wont get stuck any longer would adore this piece .
Okay so it's completely cute... but I agree with the previous posters in that I don't think I could call it "good design" in regard to its safety.
