I always look forward to escaping the Missouri heat and humidity by heading back home to Vermont in the summer. There's nothing I'd rather do than tube down our clear (cold!) rivers, eat real maple creemies, and hike in the woods.
As much as I love my hometown state, I've never fully embraced traditional Vermont interior design. It's always bent a tad too stuffy and/or country for my taste. My perfect getaway in Vermont would certainly have classic elements, like a wood burning stove and white wood panelling. But it would also have more modern lines, an updated color palette, and hopefully a sense of humor. Oh, and cheese. Lots and lots of cheese.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Love this, especially the unique old portrait.
Also, you wouldn't happen to be representing St. Louis, would you? :)
That sofa is divine. And British. {sad face}
That just doesn't scream Vermont to me and I was born & raised there as well. *shrug*
OHMYGOD THAT SOFA I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
FYI: it's "creemees" said a persnickety yankee :)
Detouring from design commentary: "Creemees" is spelled every which way on the seasonal stands that spring at this time of year. :) Non-standard spellings for a non-standard term. Whether it's a creemee, creemie, or any other variation--on a village green or on the Burlington waterfront--it's heavenly stuff on a hot summer day. As someone who was born in Missouri, I can understand the desire to flee to cooler climes in the beastly summer heat. At the moment, however, Vermont (where I now live) is suffering its own heat wave. :(
