These days it seems like everything tweets or is connected to Twitter, your dog, your toilet, and possibly your favorite bakery. While some of these connections are useful, others are not so much. When we first heard about this project we initially thought this belonged to the latter category, but after giving it some more thought, we're starting to get warmed up to the idea. Pun intended.
We admit, we were interested in this project once we read, Instructables user Frenzy's opening gambit, "Like the idea of making coffee on the fly? from your bed? While you're on the bus coming home? Then the Tweet-a-Pot is for you!" Hook, line, and well, you know.
The finished product of this project enables its owner to make a pot of coffee from anywhere they have cell phone reception, using Twitter and an Arduino board (can we say, "win," or is that not cool anymore?). To make your very own Tweet-a-Pot you will need the following: 1 Power Switch Tail (this is basically a relay that is used to interface with the AC voltage), 1 Arduino Board (any will do), 1 Computer running the Arduino IDE and Python, and last, but not least, 1 Drip Coffee Pot.
We love our coffee in the morning, and think this is a great way to get a little more automation in our life without shelling out the big dollars. Now, if you will excuse us, we're going to brush up on our programming skillz.
