It all started when Kyra and Robertson Hartnett were unable to find beautiful and distinctive modern wallpaper and fabric to their liking, so instead they decided to start their own company, Twenty2...

Twenty2 features pillows, hand-screened wallpaper and fabrics (including WallBands, their catchy wallpaper bands), and a special contract line with DesignTex.

Their original line of hand printed Montague wallpaper is still our favorite, but new designs like Peekaboo and Promenade are especially cool.

The Montague pattern is strikingly similar to the recent Kristina Isola Marimekko pattern - Biloba - as seen here:

Great minds think alike?

Floating ginkgo leaves isn't that original. Either that or I've a great mind too, which I doubt.

Hi there. Thanks again for the write-up on our wallpapers and fabrics. Yes, we do feel that there is a collective ginkgo biloba obsession out there - which we were not so aware of when we created the Montague design back in 2004. We collected ginkgo leaves from our Brooklyn street and used them to design this pattern, in an effort to recreate the natural beauty of Montague Street in the fall. The gingko leaf has such inherently beautiful, graphic architecture, so it seems that many of us are drawn to it - and have been for centuries, as the ginkgo is an ancient tree.
