Since today is the launch of New Moon, we thought we'd take a look back to just around a year ago, when we Twilight hit the screens and we posted this look at Edward's bedroom...

We went to see Twilight this weekend and our room radar went into overdrive when we saw the set for Edward Cullen's bedroom. Of course, the whole house is gorgeous, with its walls of glass and amazing forest views...but Edward's room was (appropriately) dreamy in a modern way. Jump below for details:
The room is neutral, with white walls and floor, metal and wood accents and varied textures. It is a very personal sanctuary; all about books, music, clippings and photos. The room is light and bright - one wall is all windows, and another has large, wide open french doors looking out over the trees. The room is a bit timeless, with some nods to current technology, but plenty of antique items and classics from throught the past century mixed together.

Edward doesn't sleep, so he can make do with a stylish white Barcelona couch instead of a bed, which sits on a grey toned, shaggy rug.
A small Platner table, in chrome and glass is to the side. A flat screen is wall mounted, above a desk, which has a walnut Eames DCM as the desk chair.
White free-floating bookshelves holding books and decorative items sit above an antique record player/jukebox.
The other wall is taken over completely with wall mounted shelving, containing books and a HUGE music collection and audio equipment.
Finally, Edward seems to be a book lover. They are on nearly every surface, with a selection displayed vertically on a Sapien bookshelf.

His house, and especially his room... best part of the movie!
haven't seen the movie but edward is a vampire, right?
which makes him how old?
yet all the furnishings, that you highlight, can be purchased now at dwr....except the electronics which requires a trip to best buy. then add the romantic with old books and records and i assume a painting or vase here or there.
sounds like a nice room but not the best set design.
I think he is like 100 or something, so he hasn't been living in a castle or carrying around 15th century relic's or anything. I mean who wants the same sofa after 50 years?
Besides all the Vampires I know shop at DWR. After saving money for 100 years they can actually afford it.
He isn't that old. Haven't seen the movie yet, but from the book, they have very modern tastes.

ROFL

Perhaps his Barcelona Daybed is a 1930's original, the Eames DCM a 50's Original, the Platner table a 60's original, the Sapien bookshelf an 80's original...
His hair is a little, um, There's Something About Mary... no?
And to add my two cents -from having read the books- his family moves around every few years. Perhaps he decided to change his design style like a good AT reader: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/la/inspiration/how-often-do-you-change-your-design-style-063853
LOL There's a lot to be said for compounding interest.
Is DWR open at night?
Seriously how hard can it be to decorate with all the usual suspects- Mies, Eames, blah blah blah.. no brainer for this set design.
Does anyone know where that rug's from?
i <3 apt. therapy, and i <3 twilight. the comments here are funny. .a lot of the "twil-hards" have to stick up for the book/movie. . cause its AWESOME. haha. cant wait for new moon!. .. i love that sapien bookshelf.
Not the "white house"....but the Cullens' home was the best, especially Edwards room. Thanks for posting about this!
loved Edwards room as well
wish we could have seen a little bit more of the house but i guess the birthday party in new moon will show us some more.
mmm... Edward. Love Twilight!!
@ justbekky.com--
i'd like to think that his hair has some sort of fangirl sensor.
like, the closer crazy stupid twihards get, the higher it goes.
WARNING. DANGER, EDWARD. RUN.
OMG! I freaken love Edward Cullens. He is so HOTT!!!!. haha... if there is anything to do with him or wherever he is.. its awesome.. cuz he can light up the room anywhere and anytime...
mmmmmmmmmmm Edward...does it really even matter what his room looks like???
You can see more of the Hoke House at this site:

very good call bepsf, healthyhome read the books/ see the movie before comment as your inferior knowledge of history is showing
I have spoken with Mr. Kovel on the design and price of the house, and these are very modern vampires who seem to "move along" with the times. And Edward is actually 108 years old because he was born in 1901.
AT did post this showing the house-

I love that room. I don't really care what's in it - I just want the wall of windows and that lovely view.
The books -- which are dreadful but oh so entertaining -- described the vampires' style as very simple but very expensive-looking.
The set and costume designers really nailed it.
not really. the house was supposed to be all white. that is not the case in the films. there's a lot of color in that house.
Arguing neutral colors vs all white seems like splitting hairs. They got down that desaturated and upscale feel regardless.
Two Twilight related posts already today?
askrhiannon - I think Christopher Walken once said that the higher his hair is, the crazier he's feeling.
Edward is a hottie. Can't even focus on the rest of the room.
I have the exact model of the antique 1941 radio shown in Edward's bedroom. Should I sell it?
Hi monicagator I'd be interested in the radio if you were planning on selling it!!! Please let me know!
Yep its a GE Radio, I have the exact same model as well, I was happy to see they used the same one in the 3rd movie as well, even though they changed the room around a bit.
I have had my radio for about 15 years.. They filmed the 1st movie in Portland where we live, and when we went to see the Movie my girls were laughing at me because they were so involved in the Movie, and I sitting there going HEY THATS MY RADIO... .. lol
I have thought about selling mine as well.. of course it does not work and it has some scratches in the finish but its still looks cool.
I love this post; when I watched the Twilight movie I was so taken with the design in the Cullens home. Edward's room is elegant. The Platner side table, Barcelona couch, and other iconic furniture pieces create a sense of timelessness.
i am a total twilight junkie and this is the awesomest idea i have seen yet!!!!!
rock on all the twihards out there
