We're regulars at our local coffee shop and maybe we shouldn't admit this, but we really can't live without our espresso. We take it straight up, or as a red eye &mdash unfortunately, those daily trips to the cafe are taking their toll on our bank account.

Apparently The Twist is the answer to our prayers. Twist is a portable, handheld, cordless espresso maker that is said to make cafe quality shots in a matter of seconds. Twist uses fresh ground coffee or standard ESE pods (with optional adapter). No external power is required because the Twist uses standard recyclable 8gm N2O cartridges, available online or at almost any quality kitchen goods retailer.
Within 20-30 seconds, The Twist combines the water and coffee (with the push of a button) and supplies a shot of espresso. Twist uses the N2O cartridge that pressurizes the water to 135 psi and pumps it through the coffee grounds. The device is completely portable and offers the user the ability to make espresso wherever they are. It's obviously small enough to be carried to work, on a picnic, or while traveling.
Twist is available for Pre-Order now for $169.00 &mdash which is about 90 days worth of a single espresso shot from a cafe.

If those NO2 cartridges are the same ones used for whipped cream, those are going to be REALLY expensive shots of espresso.
The Intelligensia coffe shop in my building here in Chicago (downtown) has them for sale there if you cannot wait the 90 days.
No idea if they work or not. Looks a lot like the Handpresso -- except (IIRC) that doesn't require NO2.
Now THAT is cool! How does it heat up? Does the water heat up because of the pressure?? Awesome idea.
It's a little expensive, but def has the cool factor. I'm a huge fan of stovetop espresso bc it's good and really cheap. Check out my blog: http://www.stovetopespressoworld.com
