Freelancers and regular employees alike are often on the road and traveling. As if traveling for client meetings and presentations isn't stressful enough, the last thing you want to worry about is packing all the tech you need to work on the go. If we could only bring two things, our picks would be the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and the Logitech Cube.
Logitech Cube: We love tech with dual functionalities, and that's what the Logitech Cube packs. It's a "fits-in-your-pocket" mouse combined with a presenter. When you need to use the cube as a mouse, you set it down on a flat surface. The cube has touch surface scrolling that lets you quickly scroll through documents and pages as needed. Once you pick the cube up, it turns into a presentation remote that you can use to go to the next slide in your presentation. Another great feature is the receiver that allows the cube to sync up with your computer and six other devices without having to be plugged in anywhere.
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon: If you're going to be traveling a lot, the last thing you want to do is haul a heavy laptop along, and even to this day there isn't a tablet that can fully perform everything you need to work easily. To get some serious work done, a laptop is still a necessity. We've been quite interested in Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon, which has been called "the world's lightest 14-inch professional Ultrabook." Sure, we've been drooling over the new Macbook Airs, but the 13-inch is a bit too rough on the wallet and the 11-inch rough on the eyes.
The ThinkPad weighs less than three pounds due to its carbon fiber body, which also adds structural strength and durability at the same time. The ThinkPad is equipped with 3G connectivity so you won't ever have trouble getting online (this is especially useful during work emergencies) and the laptop charges extremely fast — you can get back to 80% battery by charging for only 35 minutes.
With these two power tech tools, you'll feel more secure — and a lot less weighed down — at your next presentation or off-site work day.
