Two classic examples of modern design are making a return this year, and despite their '70s roots, they still feel fresh and contemporary.
The wacky modular Tube chair, designed by Joe Columbo in 1969, still looks out of this world. PVC tubes are wrapped in cushion, and can be configured to the user's preference, attaching to each other with hooks. They can even be nested inside each other to save space when not in use. Rereleased by Italian furniture company Cappellini, the piece comes in black, white, orange, turquoise, and yellow.
Next, Danish lighting retailer Louis Poulsen is reissuing a miniature version of Verner Panton's iconic 1971 Panthella lamp. The original, at 400 mm, is almost twice the diameter of the new 200 mm mini. The classic is still available in white acrylic, while the smaller size, available starting in September, comes in eleven hues.
