Two New iPod Docks: Powerful & Stylish, Slightly Strange

It's a given that when you want to dock your iPod and share your tunes, you need a dock of some sort. There are thousands of different models, but these two recent models are definitely unique in their own fashion. Powerful and stylish, they set themselves apart.

The Audyssey Audio Dock has got some good looks. It reminds us of something out of science-fiction. The overall shape is supposed to have better acoustics. Audyssey is a company from Southern California that specializes in high-end audio solutions. The manufacturers say that it will deliver accurate sound from its compact body. The dock includes two four-inch woofers and two ¾-inch tweeters. It's programmed with five different sound programs, which allow for clear sounds, no matter what the situation.

This dock from Sony is somewhat strange. The SRS-V500IP is a cylindrical iPod dock that includes a diffuser panel. This allows the dock to spread the sounds in 360 degrees. That's an interesting concept, but here's where things get weird. The detachable speaker can fit in your car's cup holder, so that you can use it while you're driving. We wonder in what context this could be useful. Most cars either come with iPod docks or can be adapted to use an iPod. It makes no sense whatsoever that Sony came up with this. However, should the situation arise, you know that it's available.
