Tyla Rae Polly iPad Bag Price: $60.00 Rating: Recommend I usually like to keep my portables in cases that don't scream, "This is a laptop bag." I generally don't like standard laptop messenger bags or sleeves, and that's why I carry my laptop in various tote bags. Tyla Rae offers carriers, sleeves, and cases for tech devices. but with women's fashion in mind. Many of their cases look like fashionable purses instead of staid carrying cases, and I got the chance to test out one of their iPad bags, the Polly in pebble beige.
The Polly bag comes in a variety of colors, materials and designs. There is pebbled faux leather, faux crocodile leather and leopard print or studded designs to choose from. I reviewed one of the more basic, matches with everything option - the pebbled faux leather in beige. It really looks like a regular slim purse or clutch, and can actually alternate between a purse and a clutch as well since the chain link strap is detachable. The bag is simultaneously a cover and a bag for the iPad. You slip the iPad into the the slot and secure it with a Velcro that goes around your iPad. The bag is designed so you can use your iPad freely with slot openings for the volume, headphone jack, speakers and camera. I like the versatility of the bag because it works as a slim and portable (not to mention stylish) bag for the iPad, but once you reach the coffee shop and want to use your iPad, you can detach the chains and the bag folds into a stand for hands-free use, just like a smart cover.
The chain is meant to let you wear the Polly has a cross body bag. The length is a little long for me, especially since the bag is so thin and my iPad is in it. I'd like to have it higher up on my body. I just wrapped the chain around twice inside the fold of the purse to make it into a shoulder bag instead of a cross body bag. If you really want to travel light and only take the Polly with you, there's a zipper in the front of the bag where you can slip in credit cards, earphones, keys or even a smart phone. It looks so much like a purse that no one would ever guess it's an iPad bag. Overall, the Pebble bag is a great iPad carrier if you're looking for a stylish purse that isn't bulky and let's you use the iPad without having to take it out of the bag. I'm definitely going to start using one for meetings and quick trips to the coffee shop when I don't want to bring a lot of things with me.
Pros: Easy to use with tech devices; slim, stylish design, with versatile functionality. Cons: Cross body chain too long, not a lot of extra storage space.
