We much prefer to share beautiful images with you, dear readers, but occasionally something is so earth-shatteringly awful that we can't hold back.

While traveling last week, we were lucky enough to stay under this beauty of a ceiling....nice, eh?

It would actually be rather nice if it didn't have all that STUFF on it...
Two years from now everyone will be wanting it.
What's wrong with it?
OH no!! Not a waffle slab!
The Horror!!
C'mon, did it really bring you down? What do you have against structural concrete slabs? Let alone slabs that resemble waffles?
Mmmmm waffles...
I'm digging it.
Yay for waffles!
Actually, it reminds me of the ceilings of the DC Metro.
Ugh. Our current place has stucco in every room. Including many walls. I thought I could tame it, but we're giving up and moving instead. Perhaps it's the cave-like effect of having a billion tiny stalactites bearing down on you, or how it looks so dirty even when freshly painted that makes it truly depressing.
might not be too bad if it didn't have the popcorn. you could paint it different colors or something.
I truly hate popcorn ceiling...and currently have them in my place. Its too bad they did that because the ceiling without the popcorn looks quite interesting.
I actually like the popcorn on my ceiling.
And I don't find this ceiling hideous either.
Reminds me of those old ice cube trays in an undefrosted freezer!
Ceiling textures that are painful to the touch are so not cool. Exposed structural elements (including a slab's underside) rock my world. It brings to mind the day when engineers and architects were one.
Awww my college classrooms all had these ceilings!
I, too, am a fan of the exposed underside.
Hmm, my main objection is the color -- grey makes it look like piles of dust instead of something purposefully applied. I think that if the color was different, it wouldn't be nearly as bad.
It would be interesting if it were painted another color.
Really awful.
It TOTALLY depends on what is going on beneath it.
And on my monitor it looks white.
I think the waffle element is kind of cool... but I cringe at the popcorn.
Reminds me when my aunt and uncle built their new house when I was a kid.... the basment ceiling had popcorn texture... BUT - the popcorn was dabbled with little sparkles or something that caught the light and mesmerized little 9-year-old me.
Fuzzy waffle!
Frosted PopTart Waffles
ugh, so parking garage.
i smell a new contest! :-D
It sort of reminds me of those styrofoam meat trays - maybe attaching a giant paper porkchop would give it some funky surrealist flair...
i love it! i'll take it over any boring ceiling.
It's visually interesting, it's probably very good acoustically, and it would work well with my modern, industrial style. Not bad at all.
Hmmm... I think it's nice... Real potential.
Where can we get a ceiling like that, it's very graphic... I like!
yeah i think it's pretty cool too.
goddess, that ceiling is horrid.
