The Ultimate Eco-friendly Christmas Tree

If you love the smell of a real Christmas tree but hate the thoughts of simply discarding it after the holiday season is over, the newest trend in holiday decorations- Christmas tree rental- may just be the perfect compromise. We were delighted to discover several different firms offering this service, and hope that it spreads even further in the coming years.

Though it is likely too late to order a tree for this year, folks living in the following areas might want to bookmark this post for the future:

Portland OR: The Original Living Christmas Tree Company rents potted trees for the duration of the season, then picks them up after January 1 and plant them in watersheds across the Pacific Northwest.

Vancouver BC: Both Carbonsync and the Evergrow Christmas Tree Company rent potted trees; Carbon sync plants them after the season is over while Evergrow hopes to rent the trees multiple times before planting them. Carbonsync is still accepting orders for this year if you are in the area.

Charminster, Dorset UK:The Christmas Tree Man delivers rental trees throughout England and Wales. He allows families to get the same tree every year (unless a bird or animal has chosen to make a home in it).

Do you know of a similar service in another area? Would you consider renting a Christmas tree?
