When I wrote about Chesterfield Sofas last week I really wasn't kidding when I professed my love. Tufted sofas (whether a Chesterfield or not) and chairs create a sense of elegance and exude timeless beauty and sophistication.
Luckily, as they are currently back in vogue, these tufted gems can be found at just about any major furniture retailer from West Elm to IKEA. If you're like me and are struggling with identifying the exact style you love; a leather tufted couch can work really great with a bright structured side chair — they're that easy to incorporate into the home.
Today retailers have combined traditional tufting with modern design, thus creating clean line sofas with button tufting — it's really the perfect combination. Here are some great examples of tufted sofas and chairs:
Source List:
1: Milo Sofa, $4,998 at Anthropologie
2: Elton Chair, $500 at West Elm
3: Petrie Sofa, $1,599 at Crate & Barrel
4: KARLSTAD Chair, $549 at IKEA
5: Avec Pewter Sofa, $1,199 at CB2

$1,390 and worth every single penny.
You can also get the Karlstad sofa tufted in this awesome slate gray wool. We have it and it is gorgeous!
I love the look of tufted sofas (and I have one) but if I have one piece of advice to give - DO NOT get one if you plan on having children. Crumbs, enough said.
Love the Avec sofa from CB2. I can't recommend it highly enough. It's comfortable, looks good after 2-plus years, and **extremely** stain-resistant.
Urbancricket, I went and looked at the West Elm Elton chair last week because I too love the look, but I was a little disappointed with the construction (seams seemed shoddy). Also, the seat cushion seemed to be a cheap foam that would wear out if you used it often. It's still in the running though because I haven't seen too much that price range. The Mitchell Gold Gloria chair is similar, but less modern and almost twice the price.
@ricestein I have the Avec as well, for about a year and absolutely adore it. Never had a stain incident but so glad to hear it is resistant! Do you have it in the oatmeal colored linen-like stocked fabric like me?
Let's say we make it a rule to not eat near the tufted couch, mmkay? :)
Roger that Pi!
Food in the kitchen and dining room only!
My Avec is in grey microfiber. We don't eat at it, but I have a very spit-uppy baby and he has been sick countless times on it. I always lament that we'll need a new sofa when he finally outgrows this stage, but a scrubbing with plain distilled water (CB2's instruction) does the trick. It's amazing.
Can anyone comment on the quality of the Petrie sofa? My husband and I will be replacing our couch soon and the Petrie is one of our favorites. On Crate and Barrels website some of the reviews talk about the seats compressing and the buttons poking out and becoming uncomfortable. However, this sofa seems to be a popular choice for people so I am wondering if anyone has anything good to say about it.
I've had my eye on this sofa in the Horchow catalog for the longest time - During one of their 25% off sales, this would be a steal!

Don't forget the Gus Modern Atwood sofa!
Oh, I can't look at that first one! I'm dying to get one just like it!

Don't forget about Restoration Hardware's Kensington sofa- solid construction and a great scale.

I LUV LUV LUV MY TUFTED WHITE LEATHER BAROCCO SOFA FROM ZANOTTA...OLD WORLD MEETS SEXY!
I have the Elton chair and LOVE it. But I'm searching for an ottoman that would look right with it and also be comfortable (i.e. i don't want a "hard" storage ottoman or the like). Any advice?
