Consider these bold beauties for your next upholstery project. While solids and small patterns are always safe, why not make a smashing statement with that granny chair?
Though there are no hard and fast rules, your upholsterer can guide you on fabric weight, durability, pattern matching and other tricks of the trade. Play with color, scale, piping, one-off fabrics and pattern mixing. Or take it from ho-hum to haute by simply changing the direction of a stripe.

These are fabulous. I have two wing chairs inherited from my grandparents which I intend to get recovered when I have some money and something like these would be just stunning. I just have to prise the chairs away from my father...and convince my GF to let them into the house!
love this idea.
I've actually had Molly from Chairloom reupholster a chair for me and, all kidding aside, she did a perfect job! I am going back to her because she has a great vision.
These are neat, I really like the first and last images.
There's a bunch of furniture projects here: http://upholsteryjournalmag.com/projects/furniture
that might inspire your heirloom makeover.
I'm looking for a pair of vintage Lolling/Gainsborough Chairs to reupholster for my living room as I move away from MCM...
...these are great inspirational fabrics - particularly #4!
I love fun, bold fabrics on furniture...the ones from Henry Road are my favorites.

my fab reupholstered chair is a cross btw the shape of the 3rd photo and the fabric of the last one... and i LOVE it!
Wow! Love the first one!
I love the first chair!
I like the sofa the best - the randomness of the pattern makes it really interesting.
Where can I find the fabric from the first chair??
I love those big prints but i know myself. I'd get tired of living with that print. Wish I could live with busier fabrics.
