Under the Sea Playroom

Wildlife Fun for Kids

When Penny Whitehouse and her daughter, Miss Possum, snuggled down to watch Finding Nemo together, she had no idea it would transform her home. But Miss Possum was so interested in the film and its creatures that they decided together to turn their playroom into an underwater adventure.

Penny, who blogs at Wildlife Fun for Kids, didn't just decorate the room like the sea. She involved her daughter in all aspects of planning and execution, including the research they did at the library about sea animals and letting her choose all the inhabitants of their ocean. They recycled newspaper to make fish, used a balloon to create an octopus, and laid out blue sheets for the ocean floor.

Best of all, they both learned a lot about animals in the sea while doing it. And of course, Miss Possum got to be the mermaid.

See how they did it at Wildlife Fun for Kids.
