In small homes, the space under the bed is just too useful to let it go underutilized. That extra storage space can be good for organizing all sorts of things, as long as they are stored properly instead of just cramming them out of sight:
• 1 We would want these to be visible: kaisa grass lidded baskets made in Bangledesh, from Silk Road, $85 for set of three
• 2 For CD's and DVD's: Under The Bed Media Storage by Atlantic, available through Amazon, $39
• 3 Breathable for sweaters and blankets: Natural Soft-Side Underbed Chest from Target, $15
• 4 Under-bed Canvas Bin from PB Teen, $39 (or 2 for $59)
• 5 The Container Store's polypropylene Underbed Boxes, sold separately from $10

If you're storing woolens, be aware that zippers alone won't keep out moths. The Space Bags, cheesy as the ads are, will, but with anything else, you need moth repellents.
Anyone have suggestions for storage boxes that work under IKEA's Malm bed? I've been having a devil of a time finding boxes low enough to fit...
@MayaOnFiya
I was just logging on to ask the exact same thing ... :(
I love these - I use one (like #5) to store wrapping paper, ribbons, and bags. I have a separate one for holiday stuff in the basement.
I was just contemplating this exact topic over the weekend. Living in a studio apartment, we absolutely must utilize the space under the bed (although I feel doing so creates slightly bad vibes, but what can I do?). I would much prefer to use something attractive like the grass boxes shown in #1, but they would be impossible to really keep free of dust. So, I love the Container Store's underbed storage boxes, although they are rather unsightly. I try to keep them pushed back far enough so that you can't see them under there.
Seems like apartment therapy is thinking the same things I am- I just went out and bought two boring plastic IKEA underbed storage boxes for my gentleman's clothes, now that he's moved in with me. It makes a huge difference.
I use old suitcases. It keeps things moth-free, they are easy to clean, and they look great too.
@calldoctorbison: I have a very un-prissy bedskirt on my bed that hides the storage box well!
