You'd think getting a TV on the wall was a simple process, but the reality is that there are more different ways to mount your flat-screen TV than there are flavors at Baskin Robbins. And each method has it's virtues. Some are motorized, some are elegant, some solve tough problems and others are just awesome because they're absolutely free.

Is this novelty just for novelty's sake? How are you supposed to comfortably watch that television, unless you lay on your stomach on the floor? Or maybe the television extends outward and swivels up? In which case that'd be pretty cool.
Yeah it has got to be just a novelty. I wouldn't want my TV that low to the ground.
Woo hoo! I just bought a 32" flat-screen Sunday - not giant, but much bigger than my old one. Am debating closeting it or some cool way to mount it.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
@ ArchDarling & Alyssasteffes...it's at the same level as the old console televisions that sat on the floor. Although they obviously fell out of favor, I'd say this isn't just pure novelty since they used to design televisions to be at this exact height.
I much prefer the TV to be really low over being too high, a la above the fireplace mantel.
To each their own...
Stephanie, they didn't know about Ergonomics back then.
The rules for tv height are the same as a computer monitor. Your head should be at a neutral angle while viewing.
Yeah, no, that TV is waaay too low to the ground to be functional. We unfortunately discovered the same thing in our old house, where my mother had put a flat screen TV above the fireplace. Sure, it looked good, but nobody ever watched it because it killed our necks to have to look up all the time.
Now, in the new house, the TV is in a more neutral position, floating on the wall above a nice ikea cabinet. Everybody is happy, everybody wins.
Try to find a neutral position for your TV first before worrying about funky stylish options, or plan on never actually using that expensive flatscreen.
Shoulda saved this for April Fool's Day.
I think I could live with the TV a little too low. To me this is the best way to do a fake fireplace, ever!
The only thing missing is that Crackling Fireplace DVD playing on a continuous loop.
I have my television in my fireplace. I've had it there since before I saw this post. It's a 47" and it works well. It's probably the fact that the tv is so large, my living room is small, and my seating is low. We were going to mount it above the fireplace, which a friend of mine has done, but we decided it would be too high for our size room. She has a much larger room, and the seating is much farther from the tv. It's relative.
