Shaw's Original Fir...
a dress for my partner to wear in the wedding party in a friend's upcoming wedding. I may have bit off more than I can chew.
I'll be tackling all kinds of home stuff, after moving to a new apt in the fall. Duvet covers, curtains, pillows, and who knows I might even try my hand at clothing.
Onesies and shirts and whatnot for my new baby.
My wife makes "Cute Dolls" with an archaic sewing machine she inheritied from her grandmother. It knows two things: one stitch and mangling fabric.
A new machine would make way for myriad more cute stuffed things.
I have a costume contest I'm going to in about six months, and I had a really elaborate costume planned (18th century French silk dress with steampunk overtones). Realizing the insane amount of work it was about to be subjected to, my very old sewing machine finally threw its proverbial hands up and completely quit on me! A pretty new Singer would be just what the doctor ordered. :)
I would be sewing all my own Tribal/Gothic Bellydance costumes rather than buying them all.
clothes and curtains! i even have the fabric...just no means of sewing it...blargh!
1. A pillow cover for our bedroom
2. A banner for a birthday party
3. A matryoshka for our baby
4. A bonnet for our girl
5. A quilt for our boy
6. A zippered pouch for me
7. A partridge in a pear tree
Thanks for the fabulous giveaway!
There are a few fabric patterns that I have coveted for a while but haven't purchased because I don't have anything to sew them with. First up would be new curtains, then possibly a slipcover for my couch!
So not to give away too much information but I have a little problem wherein anytime I squat down my pants split in the crotch and seam on the rear. So it would be nice to be able to just sew them back up rather than pitch them out. Hook me up!
I'd like to make a new duvet cover for my bed. Something a little more masculine than the things I have found so far.
OMG! My wife would absolute love this! Curtains! Cloths for our 2 children! Blankets! Costumes!
baby clothes!
We will make clothes for our 1 yr. old daughter, not to mention curtains, pillow cases, and all sorts of other good stuff...
Pillows, curtains, quilts, and my artwork :)
My wife is a stay-at-home mom who is just starting a small craft business to bring in some extra income. She's using an old sewing machine that's been handed down through the generations, so having a shiny, new one that can do all these functions would help her get going in a big way.
curtains since I can't seem to find any long and wide enough. a skirt. but mostly I want to fix/modify clothing so that I can use all my stuff longer instead of buying new.
I splurged in New York at Mood fabrics and bought fantabulous fabric that deserves better treatment than that from the sewing machine I got for high school graduation. I want to sew a dress that inspires envy.
And hem the pants of loved ones. Too many people can't hem their damn pants and are loathe to get them tailored. Look better, people - I judge.
I want it for my live in girlfriend, she has been trying to start a clothing company for babies and puppies (Matching Clothes obviously!) and has to drive over to my parents apartment to use my mom's sewing machine from the 70's every time she wants to try out a new design. A machine of her own would really help her get going.
Also I would love to try and make some designer cord cozies to try and fashionably contain all of my wires! Just think Unplggd could even do a story on them!
So really you're helping the site by giving the Sewing Machine to us! :-)
Not me but my wife would
1. Make purses
2. Make clothes
3. Make curtains
4. Make me a laptop bag (yeah!)
5. Make sheet sets.
It seems there a few guys on here posting on behave of their wife. We were just married and have moved into a small apartment where she has dreams of hanging her own curtains and sewing an innumerable number of pillows. Sadly, all she has to work with is a worn-down machine from the 70's that we picked up at a garage sale for $1. But with this, she would be one happy woman!
My poor bedroom has been undecorated for a year now. This will be the first time that I have lived in an apartment for more than 12 months in the past 7 years; its time to celebrate. I will be sewing curtains for the windows, a complimentary duvet cover, and a tent like canopy to add a little romance to the room. I have no sewing machine so its either the curvy or a rental.
Ohh, this would be a godsend! I make felt freak toys (...yes, I know) and at this point they're entirely created by hand. My hand. Which gets very tired after an evening of sewing. I'd love to have a machine I could use for some more complex designs - not to mention adding some new clothes to my wardrobe!
OMG...what couldn't I do with this Singer Curvy. I have a 10-month-old grand-daughter that I could sew clothes for from now until she gets married. And not just simple clothes either. This machine makes it possible to make tailored pieces. I could make her crib sets that she needs now as well as coordinating curtains for her room.
And it would come in handy during these hard times to make baby blankets that I could donate to the local women's shelter for those that have left abusive relationships with their children and are having to start all over again. It would also be wonderful to make some homemade gifts for the holidays that were more personal. In truth, the projects would be endless and only limited by my imagination.
Definitely a replacement cover for a couch I cannot afford to replace !!
We've got a great mid-century chair in our bedroom that's poorly recovered, my wife (the sewer) would put together an excellent replacement cover.
I've been dreaming of John Robshaw curtains for the bedroom in our new apartment, but they're a bit expensive. Instead, I found yards of discounted silk organza that I'd love to make into sheers - only I have no sewing machine! I would put this Singer to good use for sure... and then submit my before/after to Apartment Therapy, of course.
My wife will be making burp clothes, whilst I will be modifying t-shirts. Not quite Project Runway material, but a noble effort nonetheless.
I have some great vintage fabric I'd like to turn into pillow covers. Oh, and there are a bunch of things that need hemming and other repairs.
I could actually learn to sew and teach my daughters as well! We could sew curtains for our house and make their own matching comforters!
I'd make cloth diapers and related stuff - covers, wipes, etc.
QUILTING! I am a quilter, and while I piece on my machine, I mostly hand-quilt. I've tried machine-quilting on my antique Singer but it just can't handle it. I'd love to be able to machine quilt and this machine looks like it could handle that with ease! My antique machine is sturdy but all mechanical. I'd love to try out an electronic machine to expand my sewing tasks and maybe get back into making clothing.
I would make some curtains!
I would grab some of the patterns from my mother's collection (from the '50s and '60s) and make some of the dresses & suits. There's something much more feminine about the old patterns than there is nowawadays...
I would also probably make plush toys, which I haven't attempted making since sixth grade Home Economics class.
I would definitely sew for my granddaughters. Make some clothes for them and then a quilt. My sewing machine is over 20 years old and definitely out of date with all the new features offered on the new machines.
I don't know how to sew. That hasn't stopped me from starting more than one project that requires sewing- I've begun a bunch of reused fabric birds to make a mobile for a friend's baby, started a throw for chilly evenings, and bought yards of fabric with the intention of making window coverings for my roommate whose room gets too much light in the mornings. Eventually, I'll take a class and finish these projects!
I've been putting off buying a sewing machine forever... but I'm moving and now I REALLY need one... but I'm trying to stick to a budget! I would use this machine to sew curtains, pillows, and a couch slipcover to spiff up my new living room! Not to mention to make bags and pillows as gifts for friends!
I would sew for the little diva's... okay I would say I will help them then play with colors and fabrics and make them figure out how to do it. ;-) I can barely operate a PC, they would have to learn it first then show me.
I would finish the apron I was making for my sister, the bag that I've been wanting to make for two years, my wedding dress, etc.....
I have several sewing dudettes this could be given to.
Little stuffed animals! I have all these cute patterns but my current sewing machine is awful!
I'm going to sew little sweaters for my streetlamps. This winter's going to be cold!
Mending clothes, quilt covers, hemming pants, reusing fabric to make a little quilt for my cat!
Besides some curtains and pillows for around the apartment, I've got wedding projects: I'm making my maid of honor's dress, a clutch for myself, and clutches for my 4 attendants, and ties for my groom and his dudes.
um, i would finally be able to hem my pants WITHOUT staples! sad, i know.
My sister is having a baby in a couple of weeks, so baby clothes and baby blankets are on the grand to do list.
After the dust from that settles, I am getting married in a couple of months, and there is plenty to be made for the outdoor wedding. Backdrops, table clothes, a baby giraffe costume for some humor at the wedding.
awesome sewing machine! This would be a step up from the old crusty singer I currently have!
i've always wanted to make my own Amy Butler messenger bag. this would totally get me to learn sewing
I would love love love to get this!! I can make so many things : Dresses, pillow cases, skirts, shirts, blouse, kitty attires, etc etc.
-----------------------------------Can I pls pls have it?
I want to reupholster my dining room chairs. This would be a great step into getting the project started.
I've been designing some pleated canvas pillows in my mind. I would love to bring these into reality and place them on my sofa...
I have been dying to make a bunch of inexpensive curtains for my windows so I can change them at a whim. That would be where I would start.
I have a pile of projects I offered to do for friends, but my current machine needs a serious overhaul.
i'd start making baby clothes and alter some clothes i already have, including my horrible work uniform & some winter clothes i have stored
kids clothes! pants hemmed for shorty me! plushie dolls! actually, I really want to make my own undies...
slipcovers for my sofa!
My 7 year old has an powerful need to sew a wide variety of stuffed chickens
I need to make a Halloween costume for my kid.
I would make baby gifts, which are currently breaking my wallet!
my wife was just saying how she would love to learn how to sew.
I'd love it to fix up all the holes i seem to get in my pants, i think her plans were more along the lines of making some purses and things for herself.
A valance and sinkskirt for my bathroom, baby dollclothes from my daughter's outgrown clothes, pillow cases highlighting my favorites from my daughter's outgrown clothes, quilt pattern oven pads, simple dresses for my daughter, simple dresses for me, simple dresses for my husband (just kidding!), small household organization sewing projects, oh I sure would love to win this!
I'm in the process of making a shirt for myself with my super old Viking. It's not too shabby, but the stitching is a bit limited.
I'd absolutely LOVE to make a cute, vintage dress, but I'm not sure if my machine would be up to the challenge. :/
QUILTS! (and, you know, curtains, slipcovers, aprons, etc. not to mention the ungodly amount of mending i need to do.) please, oh please!
I would tackle either my second quilt (the first was all by hand!) or new curtains for my apartment!
I just a bought a great quilt kit while on was on vacation that would be a lot easier with a new machine than what I have.
punk rock quilts
First up, hem jeans my old machine is too wimpy to get through. Then add some non-crooked, contransting topstitching to a few bags I've started. And some stuffed squirrels for a wedding I'm going to later this year.
CLOTHES! My boyfriend has lost a bunch of weight and I'd like to make dresses and other cool things out of his old clothes. Also, I'm currently hand sewing a quilt, a machine would help me finish a whole lot quicker.
Roman shades for 8 long windows (80x32) & Christmas tree skirt
my own version of "ugly dolls" for my 1 yr old daughter!
I'll make myself some clothes!!!!
I could so use this... I need to sew slipcovers, curtains, and sheets!
Costumes for my niece, new aloha shirts for my man. :D
Clothes for me and my friends- we get together and watch project runway, all the while going on about how "we could do that!" Plus, stores never really carry interesting clothes that haven't been marked and/or snatched up already... How nice it would be to walk around every day projecting who you really are as a person- mobile self expression!
I need to make some curtains and tote bags ASAP!
I'd finally mend all the outfits sitting in my closet
lots of things! i ahve clothes to fix, i'll probably make a couple of purses, and definitely a pillow. no sewing machine right now makes these things a bit difficult =(
A Pleather Pants Suit, what else?
Just moved into a new place, need to sew curtains, runners, pillows, etc. This would be so wonderful!
I would make some shorts and tops with the sewing machine. Then I might try making curtains.
I desperately need curtains and don't want to pay an arm and a leg for them. I'm also interested in trying my hand at re-inventing some of my old clothes and perhaps making some new ones.
I would make curtains. I've lived in my apartment for over a year and I only have blinds. I know I know...scandalous!
I always wanted to make curtains that I really wanted and matched with my decor.
I would make some drapes and some toys for my granddaughters.
I would make a slipcover for my discontinued Ikea couch, right now it's sad and coverless..my little sewing machine can't handle sturdy fabric.
I'd sew clothes for my granddaughter, doll clothes and Halloween costumes. I would enjoy sewing projects for my home. It would be an awesome machine to sew on.
I would use it for my scrapbooking projects now. Later, I want to begin making purses.
Thank you!!
i'd make new clothes for the kids
start off with simple stuff ... pillow covers and curtains ... a cover for the boy's imac ... then hopefully tackle the harder projects later [clothes ...]
My mother-in-law is actually very crafty in many ways so those would be a gift to her... thanks
I was going to have to buy one of these for my wife after the review, but it would be much better to win her one. How cool would that be? And it would get a great workout in many avenues, clothes, bags, repairs, etc.
I have some fabric I bought to make curtains with right before my sewing machine died! It would be great to actually get that project done.
I can't sew at all (in fact, haven't tried since 7th grade some 30 years ago). My friend said she would teach me to make some easy outfits for my first grandchild due early next year.
clothing, curtains, bags
I can't sew (yet) but I would love to learn to hem my jeans on this sewing machine!
I'd have to make a quilt for sure!
With this machine, I would like to tackle a baby quilt for the child I beleive I have conceived.
I'm a quilter, I need this bad.
I'm on a mission to stop buying and to help others stop buying "things." This includes clothing - and so I'd like to make my own - out of fabric from my old clothes. Not just clothes...ya know...but thats a good start.
I have many, many alterations to do on my clothes.
I would use it to make anime character costumes for going to conventions.
I would use this to make summer dresses for our long, hot Arizona summer. Thanks for offering this awesome prize!
I would make my grandaughter some outfits and toys for my dog
Slipcovers for my living room chairs and a new cover for the cats bed.
I WOULD LIKE TO GET FANCY AND MAKE SOME NEW CURTAINS
I'd donate the machine to my friend Heather whose daughter loves to sew. They don't have the cash to buy a new one and this would mean the world to her daughter. It'd be a dream come true. She'd be able to make her own clothes, bed linens, etc. She'd absolutely FLIP OUT over this!!!
I want to make a surprise quilt for my grandmother but I currently use her sewing machine for crafty projects. This would really solve my discreetness dilemma!
What a great prize! I would use it for mending and hemming, tablecloths, scarves, pillowcases and more! Many thanks for the giveaway!
Wow, this is really nice! I would definitely make new curtains and pillows for the bedrooms. Thanks for the contest.
Embarrasing outfits for my dogs.
Curtains.

It would be nice to not have to shorten slacks by hand.
New covers for our pair of daybeds!
Quilting ;)
I would make curtains for my house!
A snuggle blanket for my son and if that turned out alright then curtains for bedrooms and living room!
Curtains, skirts, and working my way up to quilting...!
Make something for my girlfriend.. What a nice sewing machine..
I'd learn to sew and I'd make a quilt. I love them, I have always wanted a real home made one.
a new superhero cape.
I would love to win this sewing machine...my old Singer machine still works ...but this one looks divine.
First thing? Curtains. I've been planning this project for a while and I just found the perfect fabric, but the sewing machine my grandma gave me finally kicked the bucket.
It was a Singer and I loved it, but it was very, very old and its time had come. This machine looks like a dream come true!
Oh that's gorgeous! I think a better question would be what WOULDN'T I try to tackle? But since that wasn't the question, I will say that I would start with drapes. Yes, boring, but I need them and refuse to buy them.
I would like to make T-shirts with sequins!
I could sure use this to hem my pants! I'm such a shorty!
yeah, i wanna replace my crappy sewing machine fo sho
I would make repairs on existing clothes and household goods, and make decorative alterations.
As a newly single mother with a strict budget, I would use this to makes some really nice curtains and bedding for my little girl's room. She desperately wants a canopy for over her bed as well.
My "nostalgic security blanket quilt" made from old tshirts/clothes.
I would finally get to the purses I've been wanting to get done for so long. And some tote bags while I'm at it, too.
I would love to make some Tunic type shirts, they are very expensive in the store, I love quilting and applique also oh I hope I win, Thanks for the chance
a cute dress
Where do I start? New draperies for the front parlor. New slipcovers for the leather sofa that the $&%^ cats scratch up. Throw pillows for the side chairs.......I'm already tired.
I really need some window treatments. I'd start there and move on to some decorator pillows.
I would love to use sheets to coordinate my bedroom with a new setof window treatments as well as toss pillows and perhaps a quilt
I love to make my own curtains and I'm constantly repairing clothing for my Children or five Grandchildren. I have also been known to whip up an great Halloween costume or two!
I'd like to redo my living room...new couch and loveseat covers and some matching curtains.
After 10 years, I would finally get those window seat cushions sewn. I got as far as buying the foam, but than didn't want to deal with my dinosaur of a kenmore sewing machine that I bought for $20 at a yard sale. That thing has given me more frustration than anything. Great giveaway, Thanks!
It would have to be curtains, I would also fix all the stuff around the house that's falling apart.
I would probably give it to my younger daughter in the hopes that she would finally figure out that it is cheaper to sew up a seam herself than to send it to me to fix!
I would love to add some color to my house with some curtains and pillows. I have off white walls with white wooden blinds.
i just love to sew and have a really cheapo machine and having a singer would make my sewing so much more fun! I would make new curtains first--I think!!
right now, i am redecorating the house and i am making curtains, chair and table covers, dividers, couch covers and i am making a setee, could really use a good new machine. thank you for the chance.
I would never get a chance to touch it, my 16 year old daughter would lay claim to this immediately! She is a thrift store junkie, buys stuff and then re-creates or embellishes it until it is uniquely her own style!
I am just beginning on my sewing adventures in an effort to save a little in the costume, play clothes department...this machine would take away the intimidation for me...
OH BOY I would hem all my pants
I've recently gotten into making quilts, so I'd definitely be using it for that.
My needs are simple--hemming new pants. I have short legs, so everything I buy needs hemming. I don't want to spend lots of money for a tailor to do it...hemming looks pretty simple after all.
window treatments
1. curtains
2. re-upholster my sofa!
I need to change the hem in a pair of my daughter's pants!
I've always wanted to Make my kids costumes like my mom used to do with me.

Dresses for my daughter.
Project Runway here I come.
Thanx for the contest.
My wife has a ton of little projects that she'd like to make for our 16-month old daughter, but she desperately needs a new sewing machine. This one looks REALLY nice..hey with a sewing machine like this, I might even be able to dust off some of my old HomeEc skills and help her out. :-)
Thanks
PS. Its our 10-year anniversary today.
pillow shams, shopping tote bags, shower curtains, bedroom curtains -- and all with the cool new IKEA fabrics. woohoo!
i will attempt to make my kids halloween costumes this year.
I will brave the seemingly impossible and try and recover my sofa. If I can do that, than nothing can stop me from completely redecorating my apartment with new pillows, window treatments, and anything else.
I would make: curtains, slip covers, and a messenger bag. The SECOND week, I would make other stuff.
throw pillows
GIve it to a friend.
THANK YOU GOD BLESS
I just started sewing again recently. I purchased a really cheap sewing machine for $99.00. It is really just a basic no frills machine so I would love to win this Singer. I am making cat and dog beds so that I can sell them and give a portion of the proceeds to animal welfare organizations. Thanks for the chance to win!
First thing I would do if I win is learn how to sew.
I started t-shirt quilts for my boys many years ago. Now that they are both in the military, I'd like to get it sewn together so I can send it to my oldest who is stationed in Germany for that little touch of home in his room.
I would really like to make some new slipcovers for my bedroom chair. I haven't had a sewing machine for quite a few years but I think I can do it with this machine!
being short, I would be able to hem all those cute pants. I would also make some new pillow covers for my dogs bed.
baby blankets.
I would make clothes for myself, and our toddler, as well as a curtain to disguise hideous kitchen appliances (portable washing machine!)
Jeez, where should I start? Clothes for myself and the kids, learn to make decorations and such around the house, curtains for rooms... I would LOVE to make a bean bag chair (or 2) also!
I have a few dresses I bought that I'd love to recreate with different fabric. And, of course, I'd sew some throw/floor pillow covers. I've actually been eyeing this machine for months (and was thrilled to see the review on it when it was posted), but haven't been able to figure out how to fit it in to my budget. Good thing you can usually find deals on fabric!
When I bought "this old house," I bought bolts of material to make curtains for it. Then my sewing machine died. If I'm fortunate enough to win, I'll be sewing curtains for a while.
curtains and reusable shopping bags!
I love tote bags so I would try my hand at that!
New pillows for the livingroom, fix the hems on my curtains and stop sending out pants to get hemmed!
I would like to make some curtains.
I'd love to tackle all the unfinished projects that involve sewing and try some new ones.
Tons of half finished projects. My poor friends are tired of me bumming time on their sewing machines.
Curtains for my bedroom to block the 1000 watt safety light my neighbor decided was an awesome idea to put in our shared garden. A quilt I promised my mother over a year ago. A table cloth for my antique dining table (my grandmother would be turning in her grave if she knew I wasn't putting a tablecloth on it!). A quite a few pairs of pants that need hemming. A Kitchen Aid mixer cozy.
I would finally make some pillows out of all the fabric I've been hoarding!
I would redo the seats of my dinning room chairs they are so 70's right now.
I just bought my first home all by myself, and I need to make curtains for my house. I also really want to make something for my first niece, Khloe, who was just born on July 16th. I have so much cool vintage fabric that is just screaming to be used!
My mom and I have been wanting to recreate a few things she sewed for my sisters and I when we were kids. We didn't have much money when we were little, but the gifts my mom sewed for as were the best gifts ever. Now my mom wants to teach me how to sew, so I can recreate these same precious gifts for my children.
Special occasion dresses,
Tooth fairy pillows,
Baby doll clothes,
and accessories
Blankies,
Barbie doll clothes
and so much more
Id like to make my kids their Halloween costumes this year and then maybe make a few plush dolls.
Window treatments for my whole apartment!
I'd make a quilt.
With a lovely little machine like that, I would definitely be hooking up with my good friend Shelly and make lots of fun things. I also have several patterns and lots of fabric that has been waiting for a machine that can handle them. We've gone through a number of machines here at home, most of which broke prematurely. I think both my mother and I would enjoy having such a pretty little machine at our house.
OH the dream! I'd start with curtains for the whole house, move onto skirts, and finally start work on my halloween costume. Baby clothes as needed (so many friends having children lately and are trying to stay organic).
I could go on forever.
In my efforts for a 'greener living' I love to bicycle whenever and wherever I can. With this machine I would sew myself a nice backpack for biking- egg shaped with a cross-chest strap and buckles.
I also like to recycle. I would definitely incorporate some of my own vintage fabrics for a unique and super-cute pack!
I would love to have this as I don't have a sewing machine.
I would love to sew for my little girls and make curtains and pillow for my house. Thanks
I would reupholster my midcentury daybed couch, finally.
I would love to make a quilt
I want to start making all of the alterations that my grandmother normally does for me. She's done it for enough years, don't you think?
I would start with making tons of plushies and bags.
My poor old sewing machine needs to be replaced. I enjoy making Halloween costumes and some other crafty projects, but would do more with a new machine. I'd start off by doing some recycling to make sturdy cloth shopping bags for friends and family.
curtains and clothes....and hem my own pants!
i want to turn some of the cool t'shirts i have into mini shirts for my 2 month old son, i also want to recycle some clothes into a dog bed for my jack russel terrier. pant hemming and curtains are on the list also.
hemming pants, sewing duvet covers, making pillows....
After just purchasing our first home, there is so much that we would tackle in our household. From curtains, to pillows, to covering some cushions on our danish arm chair that's currently an ugly plaid; we would put this to good use.
Wow! I'm in a new apartment that needs some decorating tlc - so I would make pillows, re-cover a chair I have, create a duvet cover, and, as I am 5'2", I have a stack of pants that truly need to be shortened.
I'm getting a snap press for my birthday! I'd love to get this machine for a new bag project... my stash right now includes some beautiful plum hemp. I'm envisioning the stitching I can do using a computerized machine... oo la la!
oh my gosh that sewing machine looks fantastic!
I would love to get going on a few handbag designs I have sketched out. This would be the perfect thing to get me going!
oh! my! goodness!
I sooo want this!
I'll make skirts...
And pillows...
And purses...
And camera cozies...
And curtains...
And...
So many household projects for me to do. A new duvet for my bedroom, curtains for my living and dining rooms, recovering the new(used) chairs that I just picked up, and way too many others to mention right now.
Actually, my husband learned to sew on a Singer in home ec when he was in high school. Now that we've moved into a new apartment, he really wants to make some curtains with the awesome fabric we've found.
i would like to make duvet covers and pillow cases.
i will tackle making a copy of my favorite linen sundress
Slipcover for an old settee, cafe curtains for kitchen windows, panels for bathroom window, duvet for bedroom comforter, pillows for an empty couch, table runner for the family's dinner table, cushions for a long slat bench, floor rugs for hallway, and lots and lots of fleece clothing for all to ready for Fall.
I'd like to start with a set of dishtowels, then move on to...
- a pair of oven mitts
- an apron for canning
- a tote for grocery shopping
- and finally, a duvet cover!
I would love love love it.
There is a whole pile of clothes that I can't bear to part with, and all they need is some minor repair work.
I need to make curtains. And pillows.
Curtains for my apartment. I think the neighbors are getting sick of seeing me wander around nude.
I'd like to make a duvet cover out of a soft fabric, make a stuffed animal out of the softest pair of jeans ever that have an enormous hole in the crotch region which is bounded by fabric that is on its last legs, and maybe try making some pillow covers for my mom (her couch is very austere and white and needs something exciting on it).
My grandmother was a gifted quilter, so I'd like to start working on some quilts. I'm planning to do some by hand, but this would be an unbelievable help and great motivator!
napkins and place mats
a curtain
skirts!
tote bags and a yoga mat carrier
a pet bed
pillows
one day, a quilt
Oooh...I would love it. I really need to some minor work around the house (pillows, clothes), etc.
I would love to sew my own draperies, duvet covers, pillows, clothes, and bags, for myself and my friends. It'll help me build the apartment of my dreams!
I have my mom's old (we are talking 27 year old) singer sewing machine. I would love to start my quilt on this new awesome machine not to mention, new placements and I really want to make a large set of napkins to use to replace the paper ones. Plus I need to hem my jeans and I want to make a new purse. The list just goes on and on!
where do i begin? pillows and curtains for my new apartment (moving in one week!) and i have big plans for a cool tree skirt for the christmas tree!
i've been experimenting with crocheting purses, but there are some purse styles I want to make that yarn just won't work for, so I would rock it with some purse / bag experimentation. And probably some linings for the crocheted bags I've been making.
I don't know how to sew but have always wanted to learn especially since I spend so much money at the tailor because everything I buy has to be hemmed!
I'd sew everything I can't handle now - like thick denim and slippery sheers
Where to start?!? The turquoise skirt with the black zipper I've been wanting to make, everything in the one-piece wearables pattern book I just bought, a quilt and super cute monkey laundry bag for my new niece. 30 stitch patterns!!! I can't wait!
I always have lots of projects in mind ... placemats, cloth napkins, bags, an ottoman, a new shirt, etc.
I'm a quilter and my next project is a queen size quilt for my mom. Right now I use a 3/4 size sewing machine but this would make it a lot easier to do bed size quilts.
I don't own a machine and haven't sewn in many years, so I would start with something simple - perhaps some throw pillows?
Some outdoor pillow & cushion covers. And a little skirt to hide all the potting supplies under the bench.
I'd sew a comforter cover and then I would downsize all that old clothing I have that I really like but is now too huge and baggy. My old sewing machine was donated after it tried to sew through my finger for the last comforter cover I made.
Fix the hem on our floor-to-ceiling living room curtains, modify some shirts, maybe even make new curtains!
OR, I might give it to my mom and take her old sewing machine instead!
All my young life, my seamstress grandmother and hobby seamstress mother made most of my clothes, and clothes for my dolls! I would love to see if I was lucky enough to inherit those skills and try my hand at sewing - simple stuff to start, like alterations on my own clothes, and hopefully starting from patterns in the future!
Oh, so many projects for our new house! A nice place to sleep for our new kittens, curtains, duvet covers, pillows, not to mention all the clothes that have been piling up which need fixing or adjusting!
I am in the process of moving to an apartment with the tallest windows I have ever encountered. I can't wait to sew up some interesting curtains for the space, but my current crap sewing machine greatly reduces my options.
Kitchy little Pillows for my couch and curtains for the bedroom.
I'm just learning, but I'd like to make curtains for my 16' windows that wake me up WAY TOO EARLY every morning. I love the sun, but only once I'm vertical.
Also: Burning Man costumes!!
clothes, curtains for the kitchen, curtains for our bedroom, and curtains for our son's room!
so many things! I just bought my first house. I would instantly make drapes. I'm also 5'1'' so I would hem my clothes :-)
I am making a career change and have recently downsized out of necessity. It would be nice to make my little apartment feel more like home by sewing some curtains, pillows, and other deco items.
A sad tale of a girl having to leave her beautiful antique sewing machine (too big and heavy) in the town she grew up in to move to the big city. There is nothing like sewing therapy. Falling in love with some shiny thing in a store window-that one would have to spend their entire paycheck on to bring home-being inspired to make it one's self-wearing it proudly-and receiving many complements on it.
A quilt for my younger brother and his wife - they got married in June.
New bedding with this great fabric I bought at a sample sale recently.
wow; I want this... what I wouldn't do with this machine... I sew my own clothes, reupholster furniture, make drapes, pillows, tablecloths, quilts.
so much!
a 17th C type billowy skirt thing.
curtains.
hem all my pants.
shorten everything.
My next project? It would have to be finishing a dress that has been cut out and pinned together - but whose many layers have disastrously altered the bottom tension of my poor battered machine. It would be a great help to have a fancy new machine.
I have tons of tshirts saved from my childhood--soccer shirts, softball shirts, embarrassing concert shirts (backstreet boys & TLC to name a couple) that I don't wear anymore. However, I inherited my dad's pack-rat gene and won't throw them away. Instead I'd like to make a picnic blanket quilt, which I would definitely use.
I also have several yards of fabric I bought with the intension of making pillows, but am loathe to hand sew all the edges. The couple of cubic feet the sewing machine would take up would be nothing compared to the amount of fabric & tshirts that are in seemingly permanent hibernation, waiting for a sewing machine to turn them into something shiny and new!
My husband is an RN and there are just NO scrub tops for men so i would use it to make him some more tops and we just bought a new house so I would also like to maybe make some fancy curtains and quilts for the house
Well - I can't remember the last time I sewed, so I'd need practice. But I would love to make all kinds of things:
1. Shower curtain
2. Closet curtain
3. Place mats
Curtains! I can't find good white twill curtains for my high windows (110") anywhere, and i don't want to spend $100 per panel on custom ones.
PLEASE PLEASE ME!!!!!! :)
Where do I start?! Draperies for the living room; a cute cover for my nursing pillow; adjust clothes for my expanding baby belly...
I want to make curtains and a wedding quilt! Pick me, pick me!
I've been lusting after those large, square floor pillows. With the beautiful Singer, I can even throw some fancy stitches on there. Crossing my fingers...
I just got 2 new beds so I need pillows and comforters to match and I want to sew them myself!!!!
A new roller derby uniform!!
DRAPES, DRAPES, DRAPES! Also, some pillows, fun plush animals for my twin boys', cushions, slipcovers, etc, etc!
(Clearly, my to-do list is out of control...)
curtains and pillows, my daughter is so creative
I was just talking to a friend about how great it would be to have a sewing machine to make some drapes and wall hangings. How timely!
My wife would love to make some blankets and pillow covers.
Thanks!
Hem my curtains (finally), make pillows, create panels for a folding screen frame
curtains, pillow covers, a tote bag!
We're newlyweds who just bought our first *cottage* in the Bay Area. I could use it to dress up the whole place! Beginning with curtains to hide us from our neighbors. :)
I'd make gratitude wraps like the ones featured on the SouleMama's blog:
http://www.soulemama.com/soulemama/2008/07/gratitude.html
i would make handbags, pillows, clothes, household stuff--you name it, i'd sew it up!
reusable grocery bags! and a dog bed.
If I were to be lucky enough to win this beautiful sewing machine the first project I would tackle would be . . . learning to sew! I have always, always wanted to learn but never had the budget for a machine and lessons.
After that critical learning period, dream projects would include the requisite pillows and curtains, but I would also love to be able to make or alter clothes. I spend way to much at the tailor for simple alterations.
Crossing my fingers . . . thanks!
I see new curtains for my cabin in my future
Picnic blankets for all of the weddings I'll be going to!
I've never been able to afford a new sewing machine, so I have always used second-hand machines, either hand-me-downs or thrift store finds, to make curtains, quilts, bags, original clothes and other 'textile arts'. If I got my hands on a sewing machine I wasn't constantly having to wrestle from the brink of extinction, I would finally tackle some of the vintage clothes refittings and delicate dressmaking that Iâve been too afraid to attempt with my raggedy old machines.
Iâm crossinâ my fingers!!! :-)
skirts skirts skirts! and then dresses! and then bags! and then maybe matching skirts and bags! and possibly pillows and a dog bed! and then i'd try making baby clothes for friends having babies!
Household stuff, like curtains, but I'd also stop paying the dry cleaner to hem all of my pants for me.
It's curtains for me! Also ligature throw pillows and lovely duvet covers.
If I won the sewing machine I'd use it to 'shop in my own closet' by taking all of my old clothes and cobbling them into new ones for some Franken-style.
I'd really love to make some curtains and pillows, and from there move on to some sewing craft projects I've been dreaming about.
I'd make a beautiful origami pleated strapless dress....once I learn how to. To start - pillowcases!
Curtains for my new apartment!
Creating bedding and curtains to give my new home some much needed color would be the most exciting project I would tackle! But, in all honesty, clothing customization would be the #1 task for this fine machine.
holy cow there are a lot of sew-ers out there! I would use this for some major clothing alterations. I have an older machine too (much like others on the board) and have never mastered how to do a lot of things because the instructions are long gone. I had a baby this year so (sew?) I would also use this items for him.
curtains! napkins! everything!
Little softies for my son, curtains, pillows and a new hobo style purse I just bought a pattern for.
I've been really craving to get a sewing machine after I heard of an acquaintance of mine starting a pants company for men. There needs to be better fashion for men and I'm going to start with my own clothes. I want to take 'em apart, put 'em back together, and see what makes them tick. THEN, I'll start designing my own stuff.
Can't wait.
⢠decorative pillow with a thick center stripe for our bedroom
⢠curtains for our guest room
⢠sundress for myself
⢠Christmas stockings for me and my husband
⢠puppet dolls for my nieces
lovely! i would finally have the inspiration to hem my pants. it's so hard to motivate yourself to do it by hand.
I am still a beginner, so I'd like to start off with some easy projects: pillow cases, a new duvet, and then eventually move up to skirts and dresses!
Well, since I have very little sewing experience, I would definitely use this as a learning tool. And then hopefully progress into using it to make all sorts of things for my home - - and once I've perfected the art of sewing, start my own etsy store where I'll sell all sorts of fabulous things I've made on it. I have lofty dreams of being a sewer; I just haven't been able to pursue them yet.
pillows, pillows, and more pillows...
Living in the same country as my mom I always had access to a sewing machine for my projects. Now living half way round the world I always miss having a sewing machine to help my ideas come to fruition. I'd love a sewing machine to rectify this.
I am also a beginner but I've always sewn pillows and curtains with hand. I'd like to be able to tackle on some bigger projects like duvet covers and convert my old clothes into something awesome!
Pillows and Curtains! Pillows and Curtains! oh and more curtains!
Pillows!
Some quilts, a baby doll for my niece, catnip toys, and a new dress for my mother that makes her feel fabulous after a winning battle with breast cancer!
Oh, the things I'd do with that sewing machine.
Well, probably teach my little sister to sew, as I've been promising that for ages, but can't do much on my barbie sewing machine (no, seriously).
Then, I'd make pleated skirts with all of the fabric I've bought for pleated skirts (oh, chocolate and turquoise polka dots, your time will come) and continue taking in all of these ginormous clothes so that they fit me now, since I've lost all of this weight.
Most importantly, jeans. My little barbie sewing machine can't handle denim at.all. so I just end up throwing out jeans instead of taking them in.
Oh please Oh please!
quilts, quilts, and more quilts! I am a quilters whose machine died and my fabric stash is taunting me.
I'd try sewing Halloween costumes first. My 5 year old has been asking me for 3 years to make him one.
Need to sew those ditty bags and the large stuffed fish.
throw pillows, throw pillows, throw pillows!
I would use it to mend clothes for the people at the homeless shelter I volunteer with.
I have so many sewing projects I would love to start including a quilt for my dear friend's baby shower and curtains for our home. It would be so great to have my own so that I don't have to go to my mother-in-law's :)
Quilts! For sure! That would be my goal if I had this fantastic machine.
I'd love to sew a simple quilt and also some sheers for our windows.....
Fleese blankets and quilts for xmas.
Little fabric sculptures stuffed with newspaper.
Drapes with secret pouches.
A new cover for my Poang.
I have some slipcovers to make and I'm thinking about making a quilt for my friend's wedding.
A new duvet cover and pillows for my new apartment! (And curtains to match)
I'm making a ton of curtains for my house as well as throw pillows for my mom and a good friend. I also have a slew of friends having babies so it would also be handy for making burp cloths and bibs.
im trying to get organized. so id like to sew curtins to hide my craft supplies in my dining room/workspace.
i'm thinking that i want to make a patchwork duvet cover
My wife has been asking for a sewing machine so that she can make curtains. Please and thank you.
I am constantly fixing clothes, altering those I find at thrift stores, or making them from scratch. Besides which, I have many more projects that I would eventually like to tackle including a quilt. This machine would definitely be well used!!
I would love to make my own clothes, I've always had these great ideas that are really hard to execute by hand. Also, I really want to make a quit for my parents 30th anniversary next year.(I'm planning it now because if I do it by hand it will take all year! I bet all those stitches would mean I could find something great for the quilting design!)
I'm also in need of curtains, pillowcases, and fixes for things I already own, like dropped hems on skirts. And I could finally open my etsy shop because I'd be able to make kitchen goods (aprons, hand towels, etc...) and my stuffed animals and baby blankets faster than I could by hand.
Curtains for my room, curtains for my honey's room, a duvet cover, skirts, sundresses, and the quilt I've been saving fabric scraps for over the past four years.
I'd recyle/repurpose inherited fabric and clothes (Inherited my own) to create items for my home.
I would love to have a sewing machine so I could sew draperies and pillows during our remodeling of the house!
a slipcover for my ugly but comfy sofa
I would finish the duvet cover i was in the middle of before my machine went up in a puff of smoke. the new machine would turn my sad empty sewing table into a creative hot spot!!
I would make cushions for my grandmother, so she knows I was paying attention when she taught me how to sew all those years ago...
Too many things on my list, but I think a cute knit top would be a good start.
hmmm...how bout a messenger bag, cute duvet cover, and lots of pillows!
oh that's easy:
on the list of ToDos - curtains for my bedroom, curtains for my kitchen, a new duvet cover, a summer picnic blanket and matching napkins, wrap around pants, a bubble dress, coasters ....
:) the list is never ending!
Curtains--we don't have a single pair of curtains in our house. Halloween costumes for the kids.
I'd like to make a quilt.
Ohhh I have been wanting/needing a sewing machine for so long!
Two projects right now are pillows from some great napkins I got on sale a Crate and Barrel and window shades for the kitchen that my partner and I just remodeled all by ourselves (doesn't that mean the window coverings need to be DIY?).
There are so many projects that I'd like to do. Slip Covers , Pillows and Drapes the list goes on.
I'd make some clothes for my son's buildabear, and curtains for my room
curtains and mend cloths
My mom and I made a quilt together when I was about 14 years old; I think it would be awesome to make another one together now that I'm old enough to enjoy the process!
I would also love to make a slipcover for our sofa; dog hair would be much easier to handle if I could just throw the slipcover in the wash!
Great timing! I was just thinking I need to tailor the shirt I'm wearing today!
I'd make all the chic decorative pillows that we could never afford otherwise for our new condo.
i have been looking to reupholster a couch that my sister gave me years ago. this would be a good way to do that. And a million other things I have filed away on my "someday" list.
I would love to work on my quilt. I do it by hand and I would love a sewing maching to do it much easier.
I am re-working a casual linen suit, trying to do some embroidery over the grease spots. This could be a big help?
I love sewing
I've developed the belief that I am making floor to ceiling drapes for may apartment. The ceilings are 15' high. That will be lots of sewing!
just what i was looking for! hurray now i can make my quilt!
i'd use it to reupholster a thrift store chair
Hmmm... What would I make with this fancy Shmancy sewing machine?!? I would make:
totes
clothes with neat button-holes
baby clothes for my little girl
soft quilted books
Everything! Dresses, skirts, pillows and curtains for my house, and everything in between.
Yellow pillows :)
my own scrubs... i'm somewhere between small and medium. and custom is the only way to go.
curtains for my kitchen, SUPERwarm clothes for after surfing in the pacific northwest, and voodoo dolls...
I have always wanted to make a quilt, I also need new curtains, I think these would be fun things to make.
My daughter,son-in-law, and I love vintage and thrift clothing and we would love this machine for altering and restyling our vintage gems!
I have been saving all sorts of special clothes that my son has outgrown, old t's my husband and I can't let go of, and some other family stuff - all in the hopes of making a memory quilt for my 3 year old's bed. Since I've never made a quilt I think this baby would be just the ticket to getting me started!
And...I promise to send pic's when I'm finished.
Wow, I would LOVE to win this!!! My grandmother loved to sew and gave me her sewing machine, but it broke shortly after she passed away.....I would make a dress I recently designed, alterations, curtains, and some pillow cases!
I really need to make curtains!
My new baby would love all the clothes, bibs, toys, etc.. I would make for him with this sewing machine.
Wow! I'm actually taking my first sewing class this Wednesday so the timing couldn't be better. THe possibilities are endless for future projects, but I definitely would like to make some tote bags.
i really need to make curtains, the new place were moving too has icky vertical blinds. also some pillows, and eventually when i get better on the sewing machine, i'd like to try making tops and bags.
clothes for my new baby, recycle all my old/too short pants into shorts, make new hats for winter
and, finally, use all that scrap material I've collected for something...
Curtains, curtains, curtains!
A duvet cover, curtains and little side pillows for my baby sister who's about to start her first year of college on the East Coast, almost 5,000 miles away from our Hawaii home.
I need to make curtains for my apartment's back window. My grandmother made her own curtains, many different types, and I'm hoping her spirit can inspire me to do something in that space. (Not that I could approach her talent.) I also have a pineapple design quilt pattern I'm dying to try.
I want to learn how to make purses, I want to make new kitchen curtains
I have to alter my clothes by hand, so this would be great to win.
I would use it to make things to decorate my home and for art projects. And I really want to start quilting.
Quilting
My old maching broke so I have a closet full of projects that need to be completed
any and everything! I love sewing!
i would sew pillow covers and curtains and maybe tackle a clothing pattern
i'd love to make my own awesome sheets and pillow cases along with velvet shoe bags and many other luxurious items!
curtains.. for the entire house! and maybe pillows to matchh.
I would make the loveliest clothes for my baby girl! Then I would also make curtains and a matching quilt for her room. Wow the possibilities!! I really would love to win!
I'd like to learn to sew! I've struggled with it for 30 years! Life would be much simpler if I could make my own curtains & pillow covers, as well as repair clothing.
costumes for the Day of the Dead parade
My next quilt.
I would cut down my oversize comforter to fit my bed and make bed sets for spring and autumn.
it is such a sham that my grandmother was a seamstress her entire life and i can't sew at all. this would be a great first step in me learning and my first tackle would be trying to sew this sock puppet we bought for our son.
I'd like to alter my own clothes (I'm only 5') without putting the tailor's entire family through college and graduate degrees. I'd also like to make pillow covers, etc for my haus.
I want to make some quilts. I've been stocking up on material and am ready to start.
I would love to be able to make new curtains for my living room, it ia just so hard to find exactly what I want!
I've got an old Janome that I would love to replace! I'm wanting to fix up some sheer vintage fabric for curtains in our sunroom.
Curtains for my kids' room!
Having made at least a dozen sets of curtains since my Grandmothers machine died all using heat set tape, the first thing I would do is sew these curtains so that I could wash them. I would also make pillows and start making Christmas items like I used to every year. I do miss sewing and being able to make items for the house without having to spend loads of money.
To integrate into my art! i go to the Southern Graphics annual printmaking conference and would love to build my portfolio with sewn book/zine covers and am trying to diversify my artmaking with three-dimensional sewn goods. Selling and showing handmade goods with prints on them would help get my art and name out there, especially at places like the conference and on etsy! love working in textiles and love to sew!
i am a self learning of upholstery. but i cannot take on any projects that take a lot of sewing because i have a 15 yr. old
60.00 basic brother sewing machine that will not sew anything even a little thick. i make my own curtains, pillow cases, and thin stuff i can use my machine on. i only dream of having this beautifull and effective sewing machine to take me further on my learning.
thank you
antonietta
I would most definitely sew some of my old t-shirts to be formfitting, finish the zipper on a dress I've been doing on and off for two years, repair some cushions for an animal shelter where I volunteer, and make some pretty drapes to replace the ugly plastic shades in my apartment!
My daughter Tess, is turning 8 on tuesday August 12th. The only thing she has requested for her birthday is a sewing machine. Right now, she spends much of her free time making clothes for all of her stuffies. She hand sews and hot glues EVERYTHING. She really would like to progress to making her own clothes, which I think is really wonderful. She is DIY, pure and authenticated, up and coming. She would absolutley LOVE this sewing machine and what a dream to win it for her birthday!
I'd make two sewing accessory bags for my mom and I take to sewing class. We both have half size machines that are great for toting to class, but not robust enough for bull denim and home decor fabrics.
Oh, but what WOULDN'T I sew? Curtains, underpinnings, childrens' clothes, seat cushion... the list goes on and on...
I desperately need to make a slipcover for my couch and chair, and then maybe the sidonie skirt or shari dress over at Burdastyle.
So many projects!
Skirts!
Dresses!
Baby shower presents!
Etc!
I would fix all the problems in my closet, and there are a lot of them - plus I would like to learn to fix my shirts to fit better!
I have a 4-section Shoji-ish room screen whose panels severely need replacing (I sewed the 1st ones but that was 13 years ago).
I would make new curtains for my living room.
I would finish the dress I was making before my machine broke :(....and many more projects
Oh, the projects I would finish... the dress that is cut, pillow covers, curtains for the bedroom. I'd have fun making baby clothes too. Awesome.
Slipcovers and fabulous dresses from vintage patterns.
eg
I would love to make some cute dresses for my daughter, and quilts for my kids' beds.
Because my awesome sewing machine was recently stolen from my house (along with my computer and many other valuables)...
I lack the sewing machine to create my lovely tote bags, dishtowels, napkins... all of the pretties I sell at my Etsy shop:
literati.etsy.com
::cries::
oooo, I could finally make curtains and pillow cases to match my every mood in every season.
I bought some fabric that looks like newsprint and I want to sew curtains for my basement windows since they're an odd size. I also want to make a Halloween costume for my daughter this year, I saw a great witch costume pattern at the fabric store. My current sewing machine is old and cranky; it doesn't always work when I want it to.
Target had some Dwell Studio napkins that I bought up that I plan on making a frilly apron with. I'd love to sew this on a newer machine, and not on "the traveler!"
Curtains and pillow covers and that darned duvet cover that I have fabric for and maybe I'll finally hem my pants before they go out of style (or worse - not fit me!) since I can't seem to make it to the dry cleaner.
1. Dolls, animals, toys, fun pattern quilts to donate to our local Children's Hospital (Anything I can give - it was a simple, but lovingly handmade toy that brought a smile to my little boy during such a scary time)
2. Preschool Class Pet
3. Cloth Diapers
4. Halloween Costumes
5. Handmade CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!
I'm sure I'd do more, but those are my top five.
Slip cover for my couch, pillows to match. Finally modifying some t-shirts that are too big for me.
Covers for the sky lights, pillow cases and miscellaneous mad scientist projects...
I'd finally be able to use the fabric I've been buying for the past couple of years to make drapes, pillow covers, and a sofa slipcover. Yay!
I've started teaching sewing and design classes to kids in my area- My current machine is not long for this world, so the Singer Curvy would be a wonderful replacement. I'd actually be able to show them how to sew through heavier fabric, add design elements and to truly personalize their designs. They are so cute and eager to learn and so proud of themselves when they complete a project- it's awesome.
First of all, my husband's uniform and patches. It's getting too expensive and embarrassing to depend on someone else to do that for me.
I would also like to make some floor cushions for our house. We have a brand new PURPLE couch that needs pillows to bring the room together.
I'd like to do mostly projects with reusing material I already own, or from scraps my neighbors have. I'm all about having a minimal impact on the environment.
1.pillow covers
2.hemming and taking in of several pairs of pants
3.dress making
4.wall hanging
and much, much more.
I would love to make the fabulous shift style dresses like they wore in the 60's and 70's. They are perfect for the summer and you only need to worry about one thing to wear as opposed to skirt and top or slack.
Pillows and curtains are other items I would like to tackle if I were to win this great sewing machine.
Table Cloths and matching napkins.
There are several uses for alterations etc.
I would make a bag by piecing together free fabric samples I got at a design recycling event!
Curtains for our new house!
Since we just found out yesterday that we are pregnant, (go 08-8-08!) we intend to make baby clothes. Specially around Halloween it would be great to make some costumes of our favorite animal, the penguin.
I don't sew but my husband does. My daughter wants to learn so that is the first thing he would do~teach her.
I'd give the machine to my college student Daughter. She's patiently put up with my 'vintage' machine.
We're neither more nor less deserving to win than others; I notice the selection is Random, as is so much in this Life.
;-) Que Sera, sera
I think I'd give it to my sister. She's itching to learn how.
I would love to make more of the gifts I give. I really want to learn how to applique a la Mini Boden without paying $28 per shirt. I just moved and would love to make pillow covers and curtains for the new place.
Since it's been soooo long since I've worked a sewing machine, I think I'll start with a pillow. Then maybe graduate to handbags and totes - I love handmade bags!
I've always wanted to sew. When i was little my grandmother would "help" me sew items for my dolls. When I got older she helped me make a prom dress. I've just retired and now have the time to sew curtains and clothing and just need a good sewing machine
Clothes! Skirts! Dresses!
Also, quilts!
I think maybe I need to cut down on the exclamation points!
i would love to finally be able to mend my clothes properly, repair torn items, as well as make some cloth shopping bags out of old scraps i've saved!
I've always been able to do basic sewing with a standard machine, but this would give me the edge to finally do a family quilt with fancy stitching and great designs.
Maybe even be able to do our family crest sewn into the quilt.
curtains for all the windows in my place
I've been working on these adorable pillow covers, but the lack of a sewing machine leaves them looking very irregular and sad :(.
So many projects I could do!
Quilts!
I would love to make handbags and maybe new covers for my kitchen chairs.
I'm apartment hunting and don't have a lot of cash to work with, so this will come in handy for all my decorating. I plan to make new pillows from vintage pieces. New HUGE body pillow for my bed since headboards cost too much.
i would love to sew pillows instead of using fabric glue :)
A blanket for my son, new curtains for our apartment, maybe some clothes for both of us. This is really a fun giveaway!
A tactical man purse (MURSE) for myself.
I would make lovely pillows--why are all the great pillows so expensive??
I would begin making clothes again and start right away on curtains and making bags for visits to grocery stores.
My husband and I got married 3 months ago and I never thought that I'd want a sewing machine and a washing machine more than I wanted a laptop or a digital camera...
If I won the machine, I would make:
1. Curtains for the windows
2. A quilt
3. Some skirts
4. Pillows and a slipcover for our comfy, but ugly inherited couch
5. A bedskirt for our bed
6. A curtain for our closet that doesn't have a door
7. I would also get the huge pile of mending finished- it grows too fast for me to keep up with when sewing by hand.
I'd make roman shades for my living room in Josef Frank's vegetable tree fabric.
All the furniture I've inherited from family and friends for my first apartment could soooo use some slip covers. Plus curtains. Plus my mother would really appreciate it if I never stole her sewing machine again.
curtains, slipcovers and pillows.......
Curtains, pillow cases, quilts, costumes, clothes, slipcovers, beer cozies, napkins, birthday gifts, Christmas gifts.
I had to leave a family heirloom singer behind when I moved to Los Angeles, its only been a month but I'm dying without a sewing machine!
my new place needs curtains so badly!
A super-fancy quilt!
I'd love to try Angry Chicken's 5 minute skirt. Plus, I daydream about creating an upholstered sort of headboard for our ugly ugly headboard, but I think I'd need some practice first...
I have been seriously thinking that I would like to try making most of my own clothes instead of purchasing them. This would make that idea so much more possible.
Projects:
1. Wall Upholstery
2. Valance
3. Canopy
4. & some curtains
to start....
Camping stuff sacs.
Quilts.
Sleeping bag liners.
Fix some overly loved clothes.
I would like to learn how to sew as my project
The bedroom in the apartment that I am about to move into is too small for the closet door, which swings out. I want to remove the door and sew curtains to act as new closet doors. Oh, and I want to learn to sew.
Curtains & little booties (from Martha Stewart pattern) for my friend's new baby. Well not so new, actually a yr. old - I still haven't had the extra cash to buy a sewing machine so the gift is a bit late!
Project runway type challenges with my niece! And zillions of pillows of course!
I just moved, so I have tons of home dec projects lined up (curtains, tablecloths, decorating linens, etc.), and have a new job, so I have ambitious plans of designing a whole new work wardrobe...we'll see how much of that gets accomplished, but that's my goal.
I've been sewing grocery bags made out of recycled bed linens and wrapping people's birthday and xmas gifts in them. My old machine is about to give upon me, so this would be killer!!
i'm cheap. i check the craigslist free ad for project ideas and supplies because i want to craft, but want to reuse, recycle and re... spend less money.
so, i recently answered an ad for a painter who was loking to paint some fabric - i had a bunch of old, drab fabric that i let him use - when he gives them back to me, i will let the fabric tell me what i should do with it... so far, i've been mostly upholstering... i have been horrible at making clothes (although i am still going to keep trying - even made my own ducttape dressform:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/karizmatic/tags/ducttapedressform/),
i digress... do you think this machine can handle all kinds of materials? what i mean is, thick layers of fabric maybe... i made a cushion for my om's bay window settee (my first work piping!) and when it was time to put that stuff together i kept breaking needles because my fabric layers (4 layers altogether with the piping!- was i doing it wrong?). i was actually curious if this machine might have a larger space between the presser foot and the thingy on the bottom that pushes the fabric forward... i have more questions, but i'll take a momentary breather and await feedback. happy sewing everyone and everyone's wives!!!
sorry - just wanted to correct my link and i'm not sure how i can edit my post:

curtains
all the hemming and tailoring that I send to the tailor's
clothes!
I really would love to make a new duvet cover, a few sets of curtains, some pillow shams, a table cloth.... this list really could go on and on!
I would make some clothes for me and my grandchildren
I have tons of cute fabric at home and no sewing machine so this one was meant to be mine. I have made decorative pillows, a shower courtain, dish cloths, but I would like to make:
* Another, bigger, shower courtain for the other bathroom
* Thick-white table Linens
* An extra large grocery bag (got tired of all the mini ones)
* To fix all the pants I have that are too long for me.
* Doll dresses for my niece.
* White seat cushions for wicker outdoor furniture.
A new grey and green tote with pleated sides to bring to the office, baby gifts for all my friends who are having babies: stuffed toys, bibs and burp cloths, blankies. Will finally be confident making buttonholes, so might try some clothing for a change: little jackets or tops? Pillows with piped edges. Maybe I'll get started on that quilt project I bought all the materials for. And my husband feels loved when I custom-make his pillowcases...
I plan on making a quilt, some pillows, possibly baby blankets for my baby brother who's on the way.
Thanks!
Oh, man, what WOULDN'T I do with that machine? I had to sell my old sewing machine before our cross-country move, and now that we have a house I'm missing it. Our windows would have curtains, all the ragged hems and tiny tears in our clothes would be repaired, and the big stack of "I Can't Believe I Actually Spent Money On This" clothes would be turned into cute clothes for my friends' new babies and my toddler. My husband would also go to work looking far less like a street urchin in someone else's clothes.
I'd tailor all the clothes in my closet that are too big to wear but are new.
I would make chair pads for our "new" salvaged dining chairs!
List of projects eh? Pillow cushions, drapes for our new house, baby quilt, refashioned clothes, I might even attempt to recover a chair!!
Owls!!!
I LOVE this machine!! I tested one and it is fabulous! I would love to make a BIG QUILT!! thanks!!
My mother was the only one of four children who had professional sewing lessons growing up. She is the only one of four who now DOESN'T SEW!! She also didn't teach her daughters how to sew... so I am yearning to learn! I'd love this machine to make several things in my house: a window seat cover and bench, a crib set, and the big project... turning my wedding dress into a basinett cover and a christening outfit! I'd love to prove to my mother that those sewing lessons she didn't use should have been passed down to me!
A reversible penant banner with letters on each triangle. One side would read Happy Birthday and would replace the hideous Party City banner we currently reuse. The other side would say Welcome Home, Dad. My husband's deployed to Iraq twice now and has another trip coming up soon.
oh, the possibilities! I'd start with all the mending that's backed up and then move on to a new bed for my dog. I'd love to finish the edges of some fabric and make some wall hangings, too. Oh please pick me! :)
drapes
slipcovers
pillows
fix my kid's pants...
yes!..... me wannnaa
My daughter just announced she is expecting. Think of all the things ?I could make for the new baby.
I'd start/finish the quilt I'm making for my son out of his old baby clothes!
Well first I'd re-hem all my pants that lost their thread and then I'd work on making some new cusion covers for the bench in my entryway!
I'm moving into a new apartment this week! I have curtains to make, pillows to recover, upholstery to repair.... the projects are endless! Also, I'm an Industrial Design student, and hate having to go to the Fashion building to sew things ;)
I'm moving into my first apartment in three weeks, and I could really use a sewing machine (computerized, no less!) help me DIY with curtains, pillows, bedspreads...
I've never owned a sewing machine, so I'd try everything on it! I've never even used one but I'd love to!
I just bought a craftsman bungalow and need to make curtains, lots of curtains! Also, my 11 year old has just begun sewing and our old machine is terribly finicky.
I think I'd start with mending clothing then try something more bold (for me) like sewing my own drapes. Thanks for the great giveaway!
Bags!! I have been making quilted bags with my Mom's old 1972 Singer. I would love to upgrade from this old clunker to something light & spiffy.
I really want to make some clothes! I have for a while, but the only sewing machine I have access to is my Mom's and it's broken.
Oh, and some bags and a quilt would be fun, too!
Curtains, curtains, curtains.
Curtains!, Pillows!, Purses!, Crafts!, Clothes!
I would sew pillows, toys, skirts, and probably tons of other stuff I have yet to imagine!
Gifts for a soon-to-be-born niece, including shirts and bibs that my current machine is to jumpy to do well.
I would use it to hem pants. (I'm short.)
Also, someday I really want to learn to quilt.
I so very very much want this. I want to make pillows and curtains and little boy pants, and cute shirts, etc. I'm currently not letting myself buy a machine because I have so many knitting projects going that aren't getting done and finances are tight. I'd clear my "to-do while my son naps" list for this though.
pants that fit;-)
My involvement with our community theatre will allow me to work more directly with costuming our shows. I recently directed a show in which NOBODY could sew... so I ended up sewing costumes myself until 4:30 one morning before rehearsal began.
My mission is to teach some of the younger students to sew... by means of workshops and hands-on learning. I'd like to help the next generation "get the bug" for learning how fulfilling (and necessary!!) it is to know how to sew - or alter- or embellish, etc. - a garment. Or pillows, or home dec, or whatever!! So many ways to use that knowledge... I'm excited to see the different workshops etc that I could make available if I had access to a great sewing machine like that.
If I were to receive it, your gift would benefit many lives; and the arts would have a new avenue of support.
Thank you for your consideration!

I'd start with curtains for my sunroom, then pillows. Then I'd make a quilt for my bedroom with matching shams. I'm dying to make Denyse Schmidt's Single Girl quilt. After that would be basket liners for the baskets in my bathroom. Then a custom shower curtain. And that's just what I'd do in the first week. :)
my sewing machine is broken and i really need to make some new pillows with some great new fabric i got.
I have been collecting fabrics and saving t-shirts to make memory quilts and little projects for gifts. A newlywed teacher who gave up a public school job in order to teach preschool for Head Start, I need to cut corners in any way possible, and I know that having a solid sewing machine would let me make something nice without spending a lot of money.
What a great idea for a giveaway, it's a gorgeous machine!
I hope to make some curtains for my bedroom. This would be great gift.
Oh, this would be great!! I'd make new cushion covers for my couch and dresses for me and my daughters and many pillows and tons of other things to try out every feature of that awesome machine! Thanks for the giveaway!
Well, first I'd have to fix my curtains that were made with stitch witchery but after that, I have this beautiful old material that would make cute tote bags and skirts.
Great giveaway!
I could make baby blankets for all the new babies that seem to enter the family!
My Aunt used to make baby blankets for all of us, but since she passed away a few years ago, there haven't been any homemade blankets! I would like to fix that!
Thank you so very much!

it would be fun to try all the goodies on this machine when making more kitty toys
I plan on redoing my apartment in the fall. I'd like to make curtains, pillows, and reupholster furniture. Probably some clothing alterations as well.
Curtains! I'm helping a couple friends decorate on a budget!
I'm looking forward to sewing tote bags and recycling denim :) *Thanks* for the giveaway!
I would repair a few pair of pants with this.
I could make some really adorable dresses for my little girls with this machine. In prints that I want instead of prints that I have to buy.
Thank you so much for offering this wonderful giveaway.
I would LOVE to win !!
I'm trying to learn how to quilt so this would definitely be helpful. I also have a great antique chair in desperate need of some reupholstering love.
I would love to win the sewing machine. I just moved into a new house and want to make all of the curtains myself, but I need a sewing machine! Please help me cover my naked windows!
A month ago I promised my sister and her husband I would make them a duvet cover for their new big down comforter. Still have not done that, but need to.
I also promised her a skirt, have fabric to make pjs for my daughter and two friends, and a couple of outfit reworkings that I want to do for myself.
I would love to sew a brand new kitchen apron with this machine. Not to mention curtains, pillowcases, napkins, dresses, tunic tops.... :)
Start altering my own clothes instead of sending them to the tailor and make baby clothes for my daughter.
making costumes for my brother's plays!
I'd finish that pair of pants that's been sitting in my sewing basket since my old machine died.
Well, here's what I've made just in 2008 with a 30-year old Sears Kenmore that only sews straight and zigzag: three patchwork baby quilts for pregnant co-workers, two futon covers made with upholstery fabric to match the wood inlay pattern in my Edwardian bedroom suite. used one bolt of upholstery fabric to finish off the back of furniture in my new studio apartment so that i could "define" sections in the apartment. Also made laundry bags, kitchen cabinet dividers, placemats, pot holders. I plan on making quilted handbags for a close friend, a new quilt for myself, quilted wall hanging for my office at work, bathrobe, and more...
I'd make curtains for my kitchen window and work on some projects for Christmas!
I'd start out with some pillowcases since I'm a total sewing noob.
I would use this to make Halloween costumes! Thank you.
My singer that I got used from an Estate sale just broke last week :( Right in the middle of a redesign of my bedroom. So I have nearly 20 yards of fabric (in the middle of making a duvet cover, pillow shams, curtains, and curtains in place of a clunky closet door I took down.) Sooo, having spent all my spare money on fabric and paint to match, now I have no money to buy a new machine! This project (plus tons of others) are what I'd use the machine for! Plus I've never had a new machine, and this one looks amazing! THANKS! :)
i'm short so i'd like to use this to hem my pants. I could also use it to hem the cuffs on jackets... these my seem like little things but doing it by hand takes a while and plus when i am done i'll get that tailored look on my clothes!
I spend a lot of time sewing at home. I would love to make things to sell on Etsy.com but I am concerned that my sewing by hand isnt strong and holding. I make handbags and other things. I don't have a real job right now (I'm Autistic and on SSI disability) so it's not likely I'm buying a fancy machine like this.
Just moved from a 1BR apt in Hell's Kitchen to a 3BR house in the burbs, and have been sewing all my curtains and pillows by hand. This would be an amazing time-saver, and once my little one starts nursery school next month, I could get everything done in a snap. Thanks for this great giveaway!
Baby clothes!
duvet cover
tie-backs for my new curtains
cruise clothes
I'd use it to add fun stitch details to the stencils I've been doing on t-shirts for my kid and his buddies.
i'd go to "needless markups" or "5th sex avenue" and look up the most outrageously priced easy design. then i'd go to goodwill and find "fabrick" i.e. old clothes of similar texture and duplicate the wastefull item for pennies on a dollar.
gustav
Curtains for my whole house!
repair upholstry, make slip covers, mend clothing, make vests for my service dogs.
new house...new pillows....perhaps a new slipcover...oh, the possibilities!
I would like to try some fabric collage pieces on this sewing machine.
I make Rag Quilts -- when time allows -- so I would use it for that. mif1018(at)aol(dot)com
Burp cloth and baby clothes galore!
Great giveaway - thanks!
I would like to try to make some cute sun dresses.
Cushion covers, padded bags for our laptops, a pegbag and once I get really good, some sundresses.
I would love to make a couch cover (for my couch and my mom's couch), fabric curtains for my son's toy shelf, curtains for my bedroom windows and for the family room, pillow case covers, and a dress for myself! :)
clothes and toys for my boys and all the little things that I always want to try
I would definitely have to start with throw pillows and new curtains. I have been researching sewing machines for awhile and this one looks great!
There are so many projects I would love to work on--new drapes, table cloths, throw pillows, and a new dress from a great pattern I have been eyeing...
Reusable produce bags, Halloween costumes for the kids, pretty much anything I can get my hands on. I'm still learning how to use one, and my 6 year old boy wants to learn how to sew as well. So he and I would share it :-)
I would give this machine to my sister who works with the interior design business. She has studied fashion design and is an expert seamstress, interested in working with her own designs. She is currently using a machine which is probably 40 years old...an up-dated machine like this one would make her effort so much easier, not to mention more enjoyable...Thanks!
Curtains, curtains, curtains. I already have the fabric, a gift from a friend in India. Oh, and pillows, clothes, a shower curtain, place mats and napkins, and a duvet cover.
First off, I have just taken up sewing in the past year. I am pretty good with a straight line, but I would love to be able to sew more curvey, complex things.
1) I need to hem up my Andrea curtains from Ikea (they are VERY long)
2) A mobile with stuffed birds
3) Tote bags
4) A dress
Okay, my list goes on and on and on. I would love a new sewing machine that isn't missing a foot :)
I would finally tackle the curtains for my son's VW Bus.
I would expand my thesis into an even larger collection of textiles overlapping contemporary and traditional technologies in Afghanistan... good design, great cause.
totes, skirts, and pillows. oh my!
I have sooo many things I need to make. Pillows, a duvet cover, curtains, and tote bags! (Oh and a checkbook cover!!)
I have a first grandchild on the way so there's plenty to be sewing - clothes, toys, bedding, decorations. It would be nice to make something special for the new mama, too.
New drapes for the dining room and then onto new pillows for the living room.
I just bought a boat load of crewel fabric at an estate sale that would make awesome curtains, perhaps a dog bed cover to boot!
hemming drapes for my low-ceilinged living room!
a quilt and beautiful pillows. yes.
i would make pillows for the living room.
A massive family of stuffed hedgehogs, a dozen or so custom pillow covers, a complementary duvet and eventually finish the quilt I started about a year ago!
i'd be all over some curtains for my HUGE curtain-less windows in my living room....I have the fabric...but don't trust the machine...
I'd make cheerful hospital gowns for hospice to give to terminal bed ridden patients.
I'd love to have a sewing machine - I would love to make quilts and softies, and bags of all shapes and sizes!
When i was in school years ago. we had a class called home ec and i would always use the sweing machines to make clothes amd stuff animals. Then at home i still continued to use my moms sewing machine and make more clothes for myself and family members and i loved it. I felt good doing this and would live to do this again. My Mom gave the old sewing machine to another one of my sisters and she wouldnt give it to me and i was along with mom knew how to use it. So I would make some stuffed animals like dolphins and shirts.
looks like a great machine, it'd be great to tackle the growing pile of fabric in the cupboard!
the first thing i will do is finish the quilt i'm working on. the sewing machine i have (my mother-in-laws from the 70's) looks awesome, but doesn't work so great. it has no slow speed, so it's only fast and faster. it doesn't make it easy!
I would sew up Yohji Yamamoto's mystery garment, which I have all pinned together ready to go.
My daughter has designed some clothing she would like to sew together. My sewing machine is temperamental and frustrating to work with.
A new machine would be sweet!
Thank you for the contest!
Curtains, pillows and placemats.
This would be wonderful to win. I would make curtains for my kids rooms. my machine broke in the middle of making princess curtains for my daughter.
rfrobins@hotmail.com
curtains! duvet! cover for a new tufted headboard! ... and lots and lots of presents for my niece
I would LOVE to win this machine because mine is like 30 years old! I could update my home with ALL kinds of wonderful pillows and quilts and what-nots. Oh Joy!!!
My daughter Carly loves to sew. She would be thrilled with this as she is planning a bunch of 4H projects
A quilt for the couch!
Quilts, pillowcases, clothes for my daughter and myself, Halloween costumes...my current machine is a dinosaur, so this would make everything a cinch.
My first project will be to make pillows utilizing my collection of vintage crochetted doilies; then I plan to make a beautiful coverlet from a collection of cloth napkins and old ties.
Sewing a copy of the duvet cover from Restoration Hardware that I have my heart set on but can't find since it's been discontinued ;-).
This would come in handy to sew some custom halloween costumes. It is such a super sewing machine
Curtains, curtains, and more curtains!
what an amazing giveaway!
I would make: a mei tai baby carrier; throw pillows; duvet cover; dining table linens; stuffed animals for my boys; totes galore; reusable sandwich wraps and lunch bags; fabric covers and pockets for homasote boards; and maaybe clothes. maybe!
I really want to learn to sew my own clothes. Also pillow case dresses. I've been collecting cute pillowcases in anticipation of learning to sew. lol
I have a whole box of clothes that need repair becaus emy old sewing machine is broken.
Clothes never seem to fit me right. So lots of alterations. Also I love quilts. I made a few a long time ago. Would love to make a few more.
I might take up quilting, like my Mom.
I have pants to hem, I have pillows to cover, I have dresses to redesign, I have other dresses to design and sew! I have a wall hanging to hem, headbands and grocery bags to sew as well as laptop sleeves, and iPod sleeves to make. I've got to get going with this...hand it over!
From some of my 'to make' list: a picnic mat from recycled curtain panels, cushion covers for the sofa, and a canvas tote for the bathroom to hold towels in.
too many too list, but off the top of my head the most immediate needs are sofa cushions, kitchen curtains, hemming all the back to school clothes, and my family wanted to embark on Christmas Quilts as a family project for our church holiday tree, in addition to the items they ask for to give to a family in need, we wanted to include warm quilts with the gifts this year. Thanks for the chance, have a great day everyone!
Quilting, great prize
hem pant legs, curtains and attempting to make my nieces clothes! maybe even quilting....
Curtains first, then a lot of hemming/creating of pants & dresses
I am remodeling a 1920's bungalow and I'd love to make curtains and pillows for my living room.
I will sew a felt apartment that's smaller than my apartment to make my apartment feel bigger by comparison. And with this machine I can finally sew ripstop nylon, which means I can finally make this
I've been aching to make this bird mobile for a friend, and to reshape some old clothing for my partner so she doesn't have to buy more!
http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/2008/05/16/bird-mobile/
I would use it to sew curtains for my 9 year old son's bedroom and also for some fun Christmas projects for the kids gifts !
I would love to sew simple summer dresses, sophisticated dresses for work and totes!
oh so many things but first would be slip covers for my dinning room chairs then new pillow covers for my couch. after that who knows!!!
I could finish my kitchen curtains and the tablecloth both of which still have raw edges.
I would make some new curtains for my daughter's room.
I would use it to sew new outfits for my little sister and her band members. (shameless plug) http://www.myspace.com/emadamsmusic (shameless plug)
Thanks
custom slipcovers for dining chairs
taking this fabulous brocade fabric i found and turning it into a skirt
repurposing old tablecloths, clothing and bedsheets
new curtains for my bedroom
every odd and end in my closet that needs finishing, slight altering, etc.
decorative pillows and curtains for my new apartment.
thanks!
Baby quilts & baby clothes!
pillows, burp cloths, curtains, baby clothes, cover for our couch, anything creative or repurposeful!
I am the oldest and only remaining single girl in my large extended family--and everyone's having babies! That means dozens of bibs and blankets and stuffed toys for Auntie/Cousin BB to sew. Plus pillows, curtains, hot skirts and handbags for myself, of course.
A new crib set, a floor quilt, and clothes for our new baby!
Oh, I'd make so many things---pillows, curtains, a duvet cover, doll clothes for my daughter, simple clothing for me...
So much I don't even know where to begin! A curtain door for the baby's room, some tote bags for my friends, and some new throw pillows for the sofa would be on the top of the list.
-Halloween costumes for all
-lots of A-line skirts
-an Amy Butler Gum Drop Pillow
-some log cabin quilt blocks
-a baby sling and diaper bag for expectant best friend
-bike hat for fall
-new curtains for the living room
-a bathing suit
and the list could go on and on!
curtains and upholstery and tablecloths and pillows.
oh how my couch desperately needs a slipcover - and my curtains need a trim. But, the #1 use of this machine would be for clothing. Short women do a lot of hemming - and how my hand hurts after a day of shopping followed by a full night of hemming with my sad little needle and thread. Not only do I long to let out the creative vibes with more than an iron and some hemming tape, but I'd love to be able to go shopping and not dread the hours I'll spend hemming my pants and skirts if the store doesn't cater to the petite.
I need pants hemmed and some of our comforters need stitched up because the stuffing is coming out.
Curtains pillows for our new apartment. I have handsewed curtains before (in desperation), but there is no way that I want to do it again!
I would love to make curtains and pillows. My daughter just learned to sew in middle school and keeps asking for a machine
I would use this machine to sew my Ursula the Sea Witch costume for the Sing-a-Long "Little Mermaid" at the Castro Theater!
Mixed media fabric projects!
I know this is going to sound a little silly and was certainly something that I mentioned just the other day. I have a dog who LOVES to dress up and all the attention she gets. She's a pug so that kind of explains it. I've bought her several things, but know I could make things myself that are more original as well as cute. So, making doggie outfits would be my first project if I won.
I would make pillows and curtains for my home. I would use the machine to hem skirts and slacks instead of paying somebody else to do this for me.
pintolinda (at) hotmail (dot) com
I would tackle mendiing all of the clothes that I have put aside until I bought a sewing machine!
I would love to be able to make curtains for my new home. I can't seem to find pre-made curtains that I like. Thanks for the giveaway!
The projects that I would love to make are some duvet covers for my bed.
I would also make some baby clothes for my niece who is pregnant.
suzystar9@gmail.com
My sewing machine is getting up there in age. I am 45 and it was a gift from my father when I was 13. Do the math. I would love a new machine so I could give my old one to my daughter to learn on. I think I would sew some curtains for my house. I have odd shaped windows and have never been happy with the ones I have.
My current sewing machine is almost 15 years old and has only a straight and zig-zag stitch option. I would use it to make a winter coat -- I'm not sure my current machine could handle the thickness of the fabric!
Curtians so they would fit the rods I already have up. And all around mending.
Superhero capes for my five-year old, a Liberty fabric dress for the 15-month old, Amy Butler bags for me, and nothing for the husband
I have several quilt tops cut out that need to be assembled. My old machine is pretty clunky and refuses to sew ower seams. This new machine would definitely see a lot use.
I'd like to try some decorative top stitching on my quilting projects (something a little more decorative than straight stitch and zigzag.)
I have a quilt top that need finishing and I'd love to do some sewing for the altered books I'm doing.
I just took an upholstery class which, for my projects, also became a sewing class. It's not as hard as it looks. I have childhood memories of my mother cursing the bobbin. I vowed to never sew. Until now. I finished two projects in class and have two more started but I need to do some sewing. The machine would be a big help!
I'll will be sewing women purses, grocery/picnic re-usable bags, curtains, pillow cases, duvet cover and try to tackle a jacket liner for my raincoat for this winter.
i would be making tube tops for myself and shortening some pants
Home dec, handbags, and clothing. My old Kenmore produced my wedding dress last summer, but it would be so nice to have more stitch patterns (especially satin for appliques). I am also excited about the drop-in bobbin with clear cover. How cool to be able to see when you're about to run out of bobbin thread!
I would make some reusable shopping bags, a purse, a baby quilt and try to learn to make my daughter some dresses.
I would like to recover the cushions in our camper. We love to camp, it's great, inexpensive family time.
Hi! I could really use this sewing machine to make curtains for my house and mend clothes! Thanks!
i need to shorten pants.
I have 6 children for whom I sew everything from clothes to bed linens. We are homeschoolers, and I would love to teach the girls to sew on this machine.
My first project would be some "Pumpkin Pants" that my son wants to wear for Halloween this year.
I myself wouldn't do any thing with it, but my wife has always wanted a great machine to sew a family quilt to hand down in the family.
My daughter loves for me to make her, her doll, and myself matching dresses, which we wear to church. My daughter is 4 and takes her doll everywhere we go. I also make matching shirts for my husband and my son, my son is 6. They are not exact matches, example, I make we three ladies dresses in different styles but the same colors. Or I will make her shirt and her dolls shirts in the same color but different design, and make my shirt the same color as the skirts, and make her and her dolls skirt the same color as my shirt. Same with my husband and son. I do the Garth Brooks style a lot, with the lapels and sleeves different colors than the body of the shirt. With my husband and son I make them the same style but sleeves and body different colors, example, if Dad's sleeves are black and the body of the shirt green, I make my sons sleeves green and the body of the shirts black. My family and I enjoy the compliments and the attention we receive. I have to admit it makes me proud to be asked how and where in the world we are always finding matching clothes! My family proudly admits they are handmade.
I have been wanting a sewing machine for awhile now. I would make curtains, totes. headbands and clothes. This would be so neat to have.
I would make casual clothes, household goods and I would like to start quilting again.
I'd make a quilt for each of my girls and curtains for their room. I'd also like to learn to make clothing. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I tend to buy clothes on the clearance rack that doesn't quite fit and then do what I can to make it my size. I haven't been real successful with my ancient sewing machine. I'd love this one. Thanks for the great contest!
I am newly pregnant, so this is a perfect time to use up my fabric stash on anything baby-related that can be sewn rather than purchased.... I'm picturing baby comforter and bumpers, burp cloths, stroller blankets, maybe clothes and toys if I'm feeling really confident.
I would love to own a new sewing machine. In the past, I've had to borrow my mom's really old one. I love the idea of the laser sight -- I can't sew a straight line on my own! The first thing on my list to make is Jedi robes. I have several other Star Wars costumes, but I never got around to making Jedi garb. I'd also like to make some curtains for a couple of rooms in my home, and I have some pants that need hemming -- yeah, my mom says I should hem them by hand, but surely the Curvy will make it easy!!
finally be able to do topstitching! pillows, clothes, everything.
The first thing I would make is some jammies for the family. Then I would sew new curtains for our kitchen and family room. Next would be a new cover for our dog's bed. I would looooove to win this!
I would make the skirts and shirts I have in my head, but can't find in stores.
I would love to get back to sewing my own clothes and making home decor items and this sewing machine looks like it would be perfect to do both.
Pillow inserts for all the crazy odd shaped pillow cases I have. If I have enough xanax on hand maybe reupholster a chase.
hmmm...i'd start with curtains just to get back in practice.
Duvets, curtains, a vanity runner, a decorative shower curtain, and I could go on and on!
First, the pile of mending and altering that hasn't been done since my last machine went! Then...on to the fun stuff...curtains for the living room to start.
I just finished making some curtains and a stroller pad. I have to finish upholstering a sewing chair that's been half done for a while. Then I've got a top I'm going to make for my sister. The fabric, pattern, and thread are all waiting for me! My Bernina 807 Minimatic is great, but maybe it's time for me to move into the present. :)
I love to make dolls, but I have not had a working sewing machine in a few years. My granddaughter would love to get some new clothes for her dolls too!
Since I've never had a sewing machine - I would have to start out with some type of beginner project until I learn more about what I'm doing! I've always wanted to learn how to sew curtains or hem pants.
I would make a quilt for my Mother. I made her one years ago and when her and my Father moved to another state somehow it got lost in the move. She has been sick about it every since.
I just moved into a new house & I have NO curtains. So I'd sew curtains for sure.
Well, it's been sooo long since I've even touched a sewing machine, I'd have to leave it to my 3 daughters-- 2 of which love to design/make their own clothes..
Thanks for the chance!!
A Singer Curvy would be HEAVEN!
I just bought a house, a fixer upper. I have the barest minimum in a studio apartment to move there. Not even a bed, I've been sleeping on an air mattress for the last 3 years. I own 3 chairs (picked up from the roadside one winter) and a plastic folding table. Now that I have the house I've been picking up furniture at Freecycle.com. Lots of that needs repairs, too, but that's okay. But a sewing machine would sure make it a LOT easier!
A sewing machine would the the start of
curtains
chair covers
reupholstering
slipcovers
lampshades
rugs
hemming
craft projects
clothing making
clothing repair
tablecloths
napkins
aprons
shawls
and more than I can think of at the moment. I lost my previous sewing machine a few years back, and I miss it - even it's one stitch capability!
If I had one of these bad boys I'd be sewing up a storm. I have an old, 1950 Montgomery Ward sewing machine that I bought for $29 at a pawn shop. It has seen its day, it only works when it wants to, and when it doesn't, I just get so aggrivated. I would love, love one of these Singer Curvy's. If I had one, I would sew my daughter's first Halloween costume. I'd also make some curtains for the kitchen, dining room and office so I can walk around freely (naked) again! It's been a long time! I'd also make some pillows, cat bed, cat toys, burp cloths, and anything else my heard desired! I know I'd be a lot less aggrivated if I had a sewing machine that was made this century! So please, please pick me!
I would make lots of clothes for my 2 granddaughters. My daughter will soon be a single parent and she will need our help for clothes for the girls.
Frankenclothing--so many of my (mostly thrifted, occasionally gifted) pieces of clothing are wearing out physically without wearing out their welcome, and I'd like to take bits and pieces and make entirely new things. Patched pants, vests from sweaters, stripey pillows, denim bathmats, scrappy totebags, etc.
I have been a quilter for many years and I would love to be able to finish all of the quilts that I have started! I also have a quilt to make for my son's wedding and my 12th grand-baby will be hear next spring. Oh, and I almost forgot the mother-of-the-groom dress I need to make before the wedding! So, you see that I REALLY need a new machine and I'd love to have this one.
My daughter is adopting and I'm going to sew up a storm for my new grand-baby.
I have a new grandson due sept 7, my daughters getting married so need to make a shawl. I also have a ton of items needing hemed or finished sewing since my machine is on the blink. Thank you for all the time, effort and energy you use to put these contests together to provide us with some awesome prizes to win.

Since I just found out I am going to be a first time Great Aunt, I would love to win this to make baby's first quilt.
I like sewing little hand bags or decorative items for my home.
I recently bought a book on making kimono, so I'd love to make a few in non-traditional punk rock fabrics that kimono aren't usually made of.
I also have a lot of little baby yukatas and cheongsams from when my daughter was a baby and I'd love to make a quilt for her out of all the Asian fabrics, so I can preserve her baby clothes, some of which have tiny rips and will never be worn by a baby again.
Also, we had a Marimekko store open here recently where you can buy any current Marimekko fabric and sew your own curtains, etc. to match the Marimekko accessories they have in stock. So I'd totally deck out my pad with bold prints and curtains and pillows.
Thank you for the contest.
I am a crafter, quilter, and costume maker so this fabulous Singer Curvy 8763 sewing machine is a dream machine to me! I am in the process (believe it or not) of making Halloween costumes for my 3 children, my nieces and nephews and my neighbors 2 children, so I am busy, busy, busy at my old sewing machine trying to work on all these projects. I also make quilts so I have 4 quilt projects in progress as we speak. I would absolutely love to win this Singer Curvy 8763 sewing machine for all my projects!
Oh this is the stuff dreams are made of for a crafty person like myself and I'd use this baby for everything! That might be alittle scary! Well I guess it' not too late for a man to learn how to sew. LOL

This would be so amazing! I am setting up a crafting area and I would really love having this for my craft projects. I don't have a very good sewing machine and would love to help my grandkids learn to make some stuffed animals and pillows. I also have curtains to sew and pants to fix among many other unfinished projects around here. Thanks for the chance to win such a wonderful machine!
I never really learned how to sew when I was young and now that I am a stay-at-home mom with two young boys, it has become almost a requirement. In order to help save money, there are so many things around the house that I now need to make or repair. Thank you so much for the great contest!

I have lots of projects that I can't wait to do. Bed covers, baby clothes, kids clothes, pillows and curtians.
I would like to make unique things, for my granddaughters and myself, such as purses, bags, etc. But my first project would be to make a dog bed that is indestructable. My Puganese has teeth like a beaver!!! Poor little girl doesn't have a bed because she tears them all up : (

I would start quilting again. I have made some beautiful quilts for my family and I would love to make more.
Sewing dresses for my almost 2 year old daughter. Having loads of fun creating frilly playful clothes for her.
I am new to sewing and this website has been one of my major inspirations...for obvious reasons!
I would probably be making dog collars, dog leashes, dog stuff toys, dog placemats, dog hoodies ... lol ... some for my doggie, some for the shelter doggies! Yes! I love dogs! :D
And maybe a humble try at something for mum for Mother's Day ;)
My first sewing project (7th grade home ec monkey pillow) was spent wrestling the sewing machine and since then I've relied on hand sewing. Now my desires - reusable grocery bags, quilts, stylish totes and skirts with straights hems, have outgrown what I can do by hand. Thanks for the chance to win a machine that I believe will not require wrestling!
MY old Singer gave out a few months ago right after I had finished cutting and tabling a number of pairs of valences. I have been meaning to get a new one, but in the meantime have been sewing, little by little, by hand.-a slow and painful process. Maybe there was a reason I put off buying one?
I would love to finish the quilt i started for my father instead of continue doing it by hand.
If I won the machine, it would enable my daughter to create her magical line of clothing. She is 10 and has been designing clothes since she was 7! She has a real knack for design and has just learned to sew. In a little over a week, she produced a pillow case, a stuffed kitty, 2 purses (one with a zipper), a pair of boxers, and a patchwork pillow! With a machine as user friendly as the Singer curvy, she might be able to realize her dream of entering our local fashion show with annual guest star Korto of Project Runway 2009.
For my wife....she makes Renaissance Costumes and would be able to start her own business form home - a dream she's had for aeons!
I would work on making some mustache clutches and finishing my handmade curtains since my current sewing machine quit in the middle of making them :( I hope I win! I NEED a new one!
Some years ago my Mom and I moved into a beautiful 4 B-room home and then suddenly one day she had a massive stroke and ended up spending 8 yrs. bedfast with me as her sole caregiver. During that time my wonderful Athena finally wore out. Still no curtains, drapes, sheers, bedspreads, duvets, pretty pillows. Would love to be sewing again now that Mom is gone (Feb. 8th) and I have time but really need that wonderful machine to do all this on. Crossing my fingers.
