Ha! Looks like this Brooklyn bedroom we posted last week was purchased last year and repainted by the new owners. They went with a crisp, clean white on this creative bedside buildout...
We love peeking back in on this space and seeing the changes from the previous owner to the new. We particularly enjoy seeing their "new" old bedside table nestled into the modern millwork. It's neat that the apartment's new owner is still using the headboard millwork in the same way as the previous owner, but inserting their own vintage night stand. (thanks, just_someone!)

The old one looked much better!
at first I thought that the old one WAS the new update!! I think that the new bedroom just a needs a little something (artwork, color, afghan on the bed, etc.).
GO BACK the way it was!!!!! I agree with Avajames--i thought it was "After vs Before" order of photos.

wow... alot of negative comments yet my comment, the first posted was deleted because I commented on why anyone would post a photo of an unmade, slept in bed.
The second one looks like a bachelor pad with a handmedown nightstand.
The bedside table looks entirely wrong and I wish people would make the bed before taking photos, but I actually like the white. I think it looks crisp and opens up the space a bit.
This looks kind of blah! The original design is much more interesting.
it looks like it went from After to Before! I know that red isn't everyone's cup of tea, but why not another nice color?
Maybe if you want to keep the white, you could change out the bedside table to something with cleaner lines, to conceal the books etc., and some kind of headboard which coordinates with the bedside table. Keep the plant and maybe add more - gives the room warmth...
My "made" bed doesn't look that different from the one in white photo--but I like to sort of casual bed look. Will certainly pay extreme attention to the look of my bed if I ever dare post on AT:)
That said I much prefer the original red accent. It highlighted the added architectural feature which made the room very unique. Making it all white looks like you're trying to hide something. I could see not necessarily wanting red in a bedroom, but a soft blue or even light grey would have looked nice.
Why? Why would someone take a vibrant, joyful design like the fun red bedroom, and drain all the color and life from it? Feh.
A good question might be whether it was painted before or after the new owner bought it? So many real estate shows are always telling people to go "bland" in order to make a sale because a buyer can't get beyond such a personal color choice.

The before looks so much better! Even if they got rid of the red, it would have been nice to have the build-out in a dark color so you really can experience it.

Oh, so sad. =( But you really can't expect most people to be happy to live with a red wall. And it's a little unfair, because I bet we would all like the second photo a bit better with a more interesting set of furniture and with the lights turned on... it makes a huge difference!

Well i think it's salvageable -- new renter didn't take photo with lights on if it wants the detail white, it should know to put colorful bedspread bigger pillows at least. Hate the little antique stand for this space -- too too puny!!
