We love the look of vintage pieces amidst new ones. But sometimes older pieces need a little sprucing up before being put to use. This dramatic makeover of a mid-century Broyhill dresser from CasaSugar knocked our socks off. Jump below to see the before photo.

Admittedly, we have never thought of painting vintage mid-century finds, but it turned out beautifully! Our favorite bit is that they've kept the original hardware.

Amazing job! What a find and a great DIY. No other baby is going to have a changing station like yours. I would love to see the process and know what the pieces originally cost you.
Love this! I've got a similar dresser I'm gonna use for a changing table. It is painted a cream color, but I'm thinking of painting the top and outside white and the drawers a bright color.
I love that you kept the hardware. I've been torn about whether to keep mine or not. Yours looks great.
wow- I am really flattered this got picked up off casasugar. We got the pieces at an auction along w/ the 2 matching nightstands for $250- a total steal, considering what dealers ask for just one nightstand. We have the queen size headboard, triple dresser, 5 drawer chest (yes, the same one) and bureau in our master bedroom but were lacking the nightstands and I was on a crazy mission to find them. I debated on whether to paint the pieces or not, but with baby #2 on the way we needed the additional storage and they are a great fit in our nursery.
I stripped the drawer fronts using Citrastrip, then lightly sanded, primed, lightly sanded again, then painted (2 coats), then a layer of clear. I used spray paint for the flat drawer fronts, but taped/papered the ones w/ the detail and used a foam roller thing. I have some pics of the "during" process that I could send along.
This looks great and I'm glad you weren't so precious about not painting...my dad is all hung up on not painting a bed my mother hates and it's so silly...
Really well done.
i have that same dresser in my son's room!
