Please go to our new link for Mondo CaneMondo Cane is a beautiful, high end modernist store that has just reopened in Tribeca after many years in Chelsea. Besides their rich haul, their store is a showpiece in itself and was just reviewed in The Times:
The components were made with the help of a computer-controlled machine that translated the designs of its architect, William E. Massie, into laser-cut parts, like the 3,000 pieces of steel and acrylic that make up the airy staircase.
Prices are high, with most items @ $2,000. Lamps go for @ $2,000 per pair, an Eames side chair for @ $1,800 and a pair of Carlo di Carli Arm Chairs for $6,500. They stock furniture, lighting, artwork and "objects" and their eye for unique pieces with the sadness and idealism of Mid-Century design is impeccable. (via NYTimes) MGR
