At this point, you either have an old CRT (not really, if you are tech inclined and reading this blog!) or one of the first generation plasma or LCD TV. Still debating between LCD and Plasma? That fight is over. LCD Is here to stay. Now, your questions should be in regards of 3D. Technology is still young but let's see some cool options in 3D.

Philips 21:9 Platinum 3D
This movie friendly ultra widescreen has a great multidimensional upgrade inside. 58 glorious inches of pure pixel perfection and 3 sides of the now famous "ambient light". This is as close as you may get to going to the actual cinemaplex.

Loewe 3D TV
This is the Debut of the company into the 3D arena. We like the fact that there is an integrated hard drive for storing and recording, LED backlight and 400Hz refresh rate. The TV uses active shutter technology to make it's pictures pop out and there is even a matching Blu-Ray player coming soon.

LG LEX8
At only 8mm thick and with a screen being 55", this set makes the competition look like Rosie O'Donnel. Featuring Nano Lighting Technology, which drapes an extremely thin film of minuscule dots between the LED backlights and the screen, dispersing the light more evenly for a better picture in 2D and 3D modes.

If you are talking about 3D then plasma is the way to go. It has a much better 3D image.
If you care about PQ, you'll go with plasma.

But if you want the best picture quality and best 3D experience Plasma is were it is at! Don't be using the excuse of burn in or ghosting or what no. The newest models of Plasmas today are amazing. Plus being a 3D Plasma you know its the top of the line model. No exceptions.
I agree plasma.... better and cheaper don't be fooled by may LCD TV makers that print "best in Class 3-D" this is usually achieved by making a LCD at a slightly different size than there plasma competitors... also Panasonic Plasma 3D has the exclusive to Avatar 3-D although you may not love the move the free blu-Ray will fetch between 100 and 300 dollars (usually around 150) on ebay.. FYI
