There’s a shop in Oakland that we keep hearing about, and we finally got the full scoop! Fresh from a successful trunk show of Kat Geiger’s gorgeous terrariums, Urban Indigo is a great hot spot for distinctive home furnishings and accessories and a gift for any occasion.

Cynthia Bragdon, Urban Indigo’s owner, began her career in graphics, and quickly transitioned into ceramics. She has since moved into the Grand Lake neighborhood, and added finely curated objects to her beautiful store.

We love the idea "from the smallest household item to an original work of art, we make design affordable for design-minded people." Affordable + design = happy campers in this household!

They have a shiny new website here with a great glimpse of their fantastic inventory, as well as a blog where they showcase their latest new and vintage finds. Our current favorite? Check out the jade colored glass cake plates…

Oh boy, I am hoping to move into a new apartment in the Lake Merritt area soon and this looks like it would be dangerous for me!

There are still more there!
I love living in the Grand Lake neighborhood and Urban Indigo is definitely one of the reasons why. Great affordable and unique home goods and gifts. Plus, sale stuff upstairs!
I have a phrase: "Cute thing store," which I normally lengthen to "expensive cute thing store." Urban Indigo is the only reasonably priced cute thing store I know. Great for adding charm to my apt, and great for last minute shopping when I nearly forget someone's wedding/birthday/housewarming.
Neat! I'd love that store. The Jadite rocks too!
UI is amazing. Chic, off-beat, original and affordable. It's my go-to place for holiday shopping and birthdays.
Could you please include the address and cross street in this type of post? Thanks!
