The March issue of the Baltimore publication, Urbanite, featured a man's wild vision to turn his garage into a sanctuary. "It was either going to be a pool or a secret grotto. I’m maximizing my backyard space,” the owner, Paul, said of his Baltimore city garage...

After one year, a slew of naysayers, and multiple roadblocks, Paul accomplished his goal. Once a one-car garage, it now houses a small lap pool complete with a wood deck. The garage roof was torn off and replaced with a Plexiglas roof on wheels so it would be retractable. The pool itself was a kit from an online DIY pool supplier, and the garage is now equipped with plumbing and electric.

Way to go! Good for him---following through on his dream. Gives me hope that one day I'll transform the "shed" off the kitchen into a beautiful "dream" sunroom/breakfast room!
What a clever idea!
I hope his kid doesn't forget that there's a pool in the garage when he sneaks Dad's car back home...
That's pretty cool. He must have nice neighbors who wouldn't report the work to the city permitting department.
I wonder if it's insurable? I'm too paranoid...
