Total design is the concept that an architect or designer should control every part of a space, from a home's structural engineering to its flatware. It was a popular ethos among 20th century icons like Florence Knoll and Walter Gropius, and it's been revived (at least in spirit if not terminology) by a younger generation. Case in point — the "Crafted" Sidebar project by Seattle-based Urbancase and Connecticut studio Teroforma.
Everything, from the inside of the drawers to the glassware, was designed to function as a whole. A diamond pattern appears on the cut-crystal glassware and repeats itself in the liquor cabinet's incised wood drawers.
Inspired by mid-century furniture, the sideboard was designed by Darin Montgomery and Trey Jones of Urbancase. It's available in two finishes: walnut and white, each with a white Corian countertop. There's a drop-front drawer for bar tools, a pull-out drawer for napkins, and a sliding panel that conceals liquor and glassware storage.
The glassware includes highball, old fashioned, and cocktail glasses by Czech designer Roman Vrtiska for Teroforma. The set's diamond pattern is made from mouthblown, non-lead cut crystal.

WANT. I have been looking for a stylish, modern sideboard that had more bells and whistles than shelving. I love all of these.
I can't do the designer price tag, but I hope this look shows up in other product lines.
wow beautiful!
Love it. It's exactly what I've been looking for (except for the price tag). If anyone knows of anything similar, even with simple shelving, please share! I've been looking for a smallish, modern sideboard for ages but can't afford this one.
I love this! Gorgeous.
I second regivizz's comment--
if anyone knows of similar sideboards that are less expensive, please share your suggestions!
Drool !
Shame it's only available in walnut. I'd snap one up if it were in white, like the photo!
I want this... bad...
These retro sideboards bring back fond memories of visits to my grandparent's house as a child. I never would have thought that they were design savvy, such a shame that they eventually got rid of it, if only i could have advised that it would come back round into fashion
