If you want to be annoyed into a screaming stupor whenever you get a message on your computer, get an iKnock. If you'd rather have something more, shall we say—subtle to let you know when a new email comes in, then this USB-powered mailbox is a better choice. Connected to your Webmail client, it emits a gentle glow to let you know you've got one waiting.
The USB Webmail Notifier connects to your private email account and lets you know with just a glance at your desk if you have mail, and how many new ones you've got waiting by lighting up blue, green or red.
It supports Gmail, Yahoo Mailplus!, Outlook, Outlook Express, and ISP with available pOP3 service.

This is cool, but I deliberately turned the notifications off on my e-mail client. I get more done that way.
i don't see this working for me since i get countless e-mails a day and have it set up to check it ever minute. However, i think this would be a great idea for my parents so it could light up and let them know they have a message. But, it doesn't work my mom;s hotmail and from the sounds of it (if i did want it) doesn't work with my mac mail
this sounds good for parents... like mine, so if they saw it on they would know to check their mail! even though I tell them but they forgot in 5 minutes.
