Are we starting to see a new trend of using drop rail cribs as raw materials for DIY projects? We hope so! A few weeks ago we posted a cute idea for making a magazine rack out of an old siderail, and now we ran across another adorable repurposing project. It's a quilt display!
Of course, it helps if you happen to be a highly talented quilter like Julie so you have gorgeous quilts lying around. Remember her front-facing book shelf? She is definitely one handy woman. Be sure to check out her blog Chicken Julie and her Etsy shop, Inkies and Smushies.
(Note: For a little one's room, we'd recommend strapping this securely to the wall.)

Sprout Side Table
Isn't that a bit unsafe for the little ones if not anchored to the wall? It's cute and those quilts are stunning but I'm not sure I'd be one to do this.
The are also good for tissue paper...
and NO this isn't unsafe. geez The kid that can pull this down is probably heavy than the side rail itself. For goodness sakes people.
@HomeSpunThreads Agreed! Great idea about the tissue paper!
This isn't a drop rail crib part. It is the side of an ikea crib which has been removed to convert it to a toddler bed.
Ooh, I like this idea because we have two convertible cribs for our sons, so I'm always wondering what we'll do with the front of each once we remove them. I'd definitely brace them to the wall, though, because my little guys pull everything down.
Parents magazine did this several months ago and I loved it! Great idea. I think they used an Ikea crib side, too.

That's why I wrote "For a little one's room, we'd recommend strapping this securely to the wall."
Thanks to Ohdeedoh for the feature.
@KatieSteuernagle oops, sorry. I didn't catch that part!
Great idea, especially since so many people are ditching their drop side cribs like hot potatoes, nice way to recycle into something lovely!
