Having a coffee table littered with remote controls isn't exactly what I'd consider the best look in the world. Searching around for an attractive solution, I managed to find this sweet vintage cigar box at my local thrift shop to store them in.
The cigar box I picked up (pictured above) was around $7 — probably a tad more expensive than I would like, but the colors match so well with my living room decor that I couldn't help myself. It's also big enough to hold all 3 of my controllers — for the TV, receiver, and Apple TV.
Seeing as the whole futuristic gesture-based, Siri-accompanied TV won't be seeing the light of day any time soon, I'm definitely digging this short term solution, since it seems to reduce the convoluted hardware noise that once littered my coffee table.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Yeah, I doubt that box is vintage. Think they used stickers in the 'old days'? Also, you can go to any smoke shop and they'd probably give you a cigar box (or several) for free.
Um, yes, they did have "stickers" in the 'old days'. Those are probably not self-stick stickers, but rather pieces of paper glued to the box -- to seal it at the factory, to indicate that taxes have been paid and so forth.
I used to do this many years ago and it worked great. I also got my box for free from a local cigar shop.
The smell would be fantastic...
That's lovely. I'd love to find a wood one. Vintage is anything from 20 to 90 years back. I used to have quite the sticker collection back in the day.
I was just talking with a friend about what we could use old cigar boxes for....this is a great idea :-)
That's what we do! You can find wooden ones for low cost and they look great.
