Although the thought of painting with children oftentimes brings thoughts of disaster, the best way to rid yourself of mess is to change things up and make the experience unique. Try painting with flowers instead to keep young minds engaged and make a great card for Mother's Day while you're at it!

You can see this simple and lovely idea at My Little Hen where there's always a beautiful craft in the works. Instead of using a traditional paint brush, dandelion heads were used. The result is a loose water color effect that although it could have been made with anything, feels a little more special to know nature was your paintbrush!

Other flowers can be used, dandelions just work especially well with their short stiff petals. This piece of paper has been folded into a small card and a slit added to tuck a flower right in for a Mother's Day surprise.
