Dust is any appliance's worst enemy. And even though you might not use your small appliances every day, you still need to make sure they're protected year-round. Luckily there's an easy tool that'll protect your stored appliances against the harmful effects of dust: A pillowcase.

As much as we'd like to keep a minimalist lifestyle, we have to admit to owning more than a few unitasking devices. There's a couple of small appliances that spend most of their life in storage, waiting for the day where they might bake up a waffle or sew up a loose stitch.

But as they sit forgotten on top of the fridge or on a closet shelf, they're also collecting massive amounts of dust. Dust that can cause overheating and cut your appliance's lifespan.

You could go buy a specially-manufactured cover for each of your unitaskers—or go the home hack route and grab for the nearest set of linens. A pillowcase will fit over most of your small appliances and does a good job at keeping your tech dust and dirt free.
