Wimbledon has started, and the excitement is building. But are travel, time differences or lack of access to a TV getting in the way? As they say, there's an app for that - and for plenty of other sporting events, too.

Basketball and hockey may be over for the season, but there are still plenty of ways to get your sports fix in the interim. Check out our favorite apps below, and share yours in the comments.

Wimbledon Tennis Championships

Nuts about tennis? Check out the official Wimbledon app for scores, schedules, video of matches, radio broadcasts, player bios and more.

The rest of the year, use ATP/WTA Live (free) to follow the tennis tours.

News, Scores and Rumors

For football, basketball, hockey, college football and golf news and rumors, look no further - the NBC Sports Talk app has everything you need, and it updates frequently.

If you want to go a little more formal, ESPN ScoreCenter is an app that does it all, from text and video news, to scoring for your favorite teams, a customizable section.

Yankees vs Boston? Now you don't have to choose.

NYY ($.99) and 24-7 Boston Baseball (free) are two of the most popular apps on the store, giving scores, game alerts and team news.

And this is perhaps the best news of all -- chances are, your particular favorite team has a dedicated app of its own. College teams and fantasy sports do too! Download now, and you'll be ready when the season comes.
