If you're choosing a place for your nursery but are worried that there is no closet, don't fret. We've found that a closet, while nice, isn't a necessity.
Luckily, baby clothes are small and cute. They look good hung in the open. Consider using a simple clothes rack to store and display your child's clothing. It makes putting things away easy and adds a nice touch of color to the room. Anyone else do this as well?

Where is the rack in the picture from?
I am going to follow Lee Kleinhelter's approach and hang three IKEA Lack shelves and a Bygel rod: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4058/4326722686_c3eb516ef5_o.jpg
I hate things out in the open, so we go Eurostyle with a wardrobe from Ikea (we have a Hensvik). Eventually she will outgrow it, but for now, if she has more than 30" of dresses, there is something seriously wrong.
In the real world your little darling would have those clothes strewn around the room in five seconds flat.
I also would like to know where the rack in the picture is from. I wouldn't use it in my daughter's room, I'd like to use it in my sewing room for finished garments!
A similar idea was posted on Ohdeedoh awhile ago here: http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/shelving-storage/no-closet-create-your-own-095391
And I have been trying to re-create that look with a hanging clothes rack/hat rack with an Ikea "Stall" (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40152666)
However, I drilled it into the wall and it fell a week later - no one got hurt - but the option here looks really great. Please let us know where that little clothes rack came from! Although as ClothDiaperFashionista said, my girl would have everything on the floor in a minute. But I still think open closets are adorable.
where is the painting from? very cute idea!
Very nice. ALso love to know where the rack and the painting come from!
thank you all for your sweet comments, this it Kari Anne the owner of the rack and the mom of Ellen now 15 months. The rack I bought from a store that was closing down and don't know where they bought it, I'm sorry. The painting is by me, check out my blog for more:

and my site and shop:

Please note that the photo is taken by Katrine Nordal, www.aftenposten.no
And yes, now that Ellen is a bit older there are more clothes on the floor than on the rack, but it worked perfectly for the first year ; )
Thanks again, Kari Anne Marstein, Norway
