Over the years, we've seen a number of tips and tricks to try and hide your TV in plain sight, but here's an easy trick you may have thought of. We're talking black paint here folks (a big can of it) and using it to tie the room together in a modern/sophisticated way.
Why black? Not only does the dark palette create an easy blend together between screen and wall (we've always found that big black TV rectangle an eyesore in any given situation), but you also can run them black cables without worrying about them becoming a cluttered mess. Heck, some may even prefer that 'industrial' feeling that's becoming so ever popular these days.
Most importantly, we dig the simplicity of it all. No wallpaper sticky mess. No strange painter's tape. Just black. Sure, it may be a bit more moody than your normal cup of 'modern' tea, but it's hard to argue with the sheer efficiency and practicality of it all, especially when it looks this darn good!
What do you think? Too dark for comfort or just the right kind of 21st century camo?

The idea is a good one, though I don't think it was all that well executed in either room. : /
Have to agree with the poster above. Good idea, but not sure I like the execution/effect in either picture above. Something seems "off", but I can't quite put it into words.
Its an interesting idea but I think a black wall is tough to pull off in many rooms. I always wondered how a tv would look mounted on black & white graphic wallpaper (like damask), unfortunately, my walls have some texture so I haven't been able to try it out.
Rather than paint, try a handheld computer.
That wall looks brown to me.
We have a niche area in our living room that we placed our large, black entertainment armoire in. I painted the whole niche black and now the armoire doesn't overwhelm the living room. The paint also helps hide the speakers and black CD towers.
Hmmm it's definitely a thought, but how would one work that into a coastal theme?
I love it.
I think the execution is poor because the design of the space puts the TV as a focal point and then attempts to cover it up. Is that not a little silly? If you don't want your TV to be in plain sight, don't mount it directly above the fireplace.
And as a side note, I for one think TVs, as shown in the pics, can be quite beautiful objects compared to most household appliances.
Works for me.
Does anyone know what lamp that is...the white one with multiple bulbs? Much appreciated...looks pretty cool!
I mean the bubbly round plastic looking lamp above
Why would I want to hide my television?
Thera: Oil spill?
A TV is unsightly, and painting a perfectly good room black is a more attractive solution? Dude, make peace with your TV or get rid of it.
