Renters take note - a prohibition against painting walls or hanging wallpaper doesn't mean a bland room. Check out the neutral palette of this child's bedroom. White furniture, ceilings and molding, and khaki walls make up the backdrop. But you hardly notice any of that.
What does pop is the bedspread bursting with color. In this case it's a beautiful Mexican Suzani we spotted over at Table Tonic. But any beautiful, color rich patterned textile will do. A few more pops of color in the color-sorted books and the room looks finished. In love with that Suzani on the bed? You can order one from Table Tonic right here.

I love the feel of this room.
The room I'm setting up the nursery in is also painted a taupe color, and I have decided not to bother changing it. I've decided to wait until the child is old enough to communicate some color preferences.
I plan on using white furniture and bright fabrics as well, so I'm glad to see that my choices will come together well.
love. and i love how the books are color coordinated too!
I love the look but $489 for a bedspread is really steep (for us anyway). I'd love to see some more affordable options.
Whenyouseesparks: Urban Outfitters has some great options ranging from $40-200.
Now I have to say, I'm generally against this whole "let's-arrange-books-by-color" thing that everyone is doing, but I am surprised to find that I really like it for kids' rooms. It makes sense though, since you're probably not going to be looking for children's books by author or subject, like you more often do with adult books.
LOVE the bed! Where's it from? Is that storage or a trundle bed under there?
I love the bed too and would like to know where it is from as well.
Thanks for the lovely comments, everyone! This was my son's room in our previous house here in Sydney, Australia. The bed (and trundle) are from an Australian store called Treehouse (www.treehouse.net.au), and the bed is the "Matt" bed. We don't have a mattress in the trundle, but yes, we use it as storage (so handy!). Hope that helps!

whenyouseesparks - If you've ever seen a hand embroidered Mexican Suzani in the flesh, you'll understand the price tag. The entire thing is made up of tiny stitches and they take up to 3 months to make!
