Check Flickr Before Ordering Furniture Online

Recognize this couch? Yep, it's from Urban Outfitters. Awhile back, we were contemplating ordering this sofa for our living room, and when we were flipping through SnapshotRadio's Flickr of her home (really fun home, by the way, with lots of interesting DIY projects and cool finds; link is after the jump), we saw this sofa and thought, "Wow, it looks really great! That wood frame is pretty nice...maybe we should have ordered it..." As we progressed through the album, there was a photo showing the rear of the sofa, and now we're glad that we didn't get it after all. Why? See for yourself...

Depending on the layout of your living room, this may not bug you that much (i.e. this would probably be a moot point if it's against a wall); however, this could be a make-or-break deal for some. A friend of ours is seriously considering ordering this exact sofa, and seeing this photo made her waver quite a bit. She hasn't ruled it out completely from her list, but it was extremely helpful for her to see all the angles as the Urban Outfitters website only shows off the front and details of the legs and upholstery. Knowing her, she'll probably devise some kind of cool slipcover to hide the metal back support.

The moral of the story? If you're thinking about buying furniture online and can't check it out in person, look on Flickr to see if someone has it in their home. It definitely helps to see it in a non-staged environment to get an accurate feel of what the piece will look like in both style and scale. Plus, especially in the case of SnapshotRadio's Flickr, you can also see some really great homes with lots of personality (we particularly love the mismatched cabinet pulls on the credenza).

Photos from SnapshotRadio's Flickr, and be sure to check out the rest of her inspiring home.
