True, most of us don't live in homes with grand hallways like this. But the photo definitely got us thinking that passageways, at least wide enough ones, provide an under-utilized book storage option.

We spotted this photo on AtticMag. It accompanied a post about rugs in a bookcase hallway. Rugs aside, the post raises a good, obvious point — hallways are a potential hot-spot for book storage, if your hallway is wide enough. Even if it's narrow you could put a high shelf (above door height) that runs the perimeter of the hallway space or just down one side of the hallway.
