Although you can spend thousands of dollars renovating a home office, you can easily do it for a lot cheaper if you use a few smart ideas. This neat-looking office was remade using some great ideas that anyone can use to spruce up their workstation.
This home office reno comes from Djreson
from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He started by tidying up his cable mess using a DIY system that was composed of a coat rack. He threaded some rods with cap nuts at both ends then drilled through the desk to run support the rod. If you're thinking about doing something like this, you should be aware that the IKEA Signum cable management
system is cheaper to set up.
The rope LED lights were added for ambient light. They are controlled via a wireless switch. He then used some wire closet shelves, which he got from Target, to hold his router and other peripherals beneath his desk. They were hung using some cable fasteners. The best tip he has is to loop the cables through the squares to keep the cords in place. The benefit of these shelves is that they allow for adequate ventilation for computer peripherals, like routers, modems, and scanners.
By using this DIY cable management system, the mess of cables that is usually found on the floor has disappeared, making for a much cleaner and nicer home office. Additional tips include using an IKEA Dioder LED kit to add some more diffuse lighting, as well as some extra shelving, which could be hacked from a number of shelves.
