Orange doesn't have to evoke thoughts of pumpkins when used indoors, instead let it be a bold statement, balanced either with sophisticated elements or something a bit more fun. Jump below to see this sofa in a totally different set up along with a more affordable option:
In both living rooms the only thing in common is the orange sofa, but the rooms couldn't have more different feels.
Sophisticated: In a more grown up space, the orange sofa gets back up from darker wood, metal accents and neutrals making the orange stand out but not in a 'hey look at me' way. It becomes more of a sultry orange, if you will.
Playful: Stack bold colors on top of bold colors. Turquoise, hot pink and mustard all carry the same punch that the orange does and all the cozy textures and squishiness help to make the room feel fun and easy.
Affordable: Try your hand at one of these looks by starting with Ikea's Tylosand Sofa in Orange for $900. For a fun look check out this pillow as a start. For a sophisticated look try one of this West Elm Drum Side Table.
What do you think, would you rock orange? Do you rock orange in one of your rooms?

I adore orange. I have orange all over my bedroom. Orange duvet, shams, pillows, headboard and art. I have lots of orange art as well. I seriously love orange. I have red in my living room- what can I say I love warm colors.
But I dont think I would ever buy an orange couch unless it was vintage. Though I love orange now who knows if in a few years I will have overdosed. And then what do you do if you want to get rid of an orange couch? Slip covers dont have as clean lines and I am not sure there is a market for orange couches on CL.
I love orange too:
In my brown living room I have a vintage Danish Modern chair that's upholstered in an orange wooly tweed next to an eBay table lamp in the same orange - all in front of white curtains with giant dark blue amoeba/blobs.
Orange was popular back in the 50's and 60's and then went away for a lot of years. Now has come back in a more cheerful, fun and playful way. It's just one of those colors people run to after getting tired of the classic stuff. I do think it looks the best in the second photo with all the other colors that are playful. I would perfer a far more somber orange used with classic style rooms and furniture.
anyone know where I can find the coffee table in the top picture?
i've been wanting to do an accent wall in a reallly spicy orange. i'm also getting the kramfors ikea sectional in dark gray and am on the prowl for just the right orange accent pillows :)
Orange is my favorite color; I have orange everything: clthes, utensils, wallet, outerware, jewelry, etc. But when people come to my house, they are surprised that my decor isn't orange. Orange can become too much very quickly, even for a orange freak like me. I like to pair orange accents will gray, white and shades of brown. But I would love to have an orange 4 poster bed...I just haven't committed to it yet.
I love my orange couch! However, the rest of the room is mostly neutrals with a couple of bright colors here and there. It matches everything.
i have orange all over as well. i painted the 2-story stair wall a nice persimmon orange to contrast with my olive and off-white living room. love orange!
i want to know who makes that couch and why everything in Living Etc is exactly what i want for my house!
ooo love the first picture
I have at least eight Moroccan rugs of which orange is primary or accent color. Some throw pillows are also orange, but I keep that down to minimum.
I want orange Fiestaware, walls, and accents. I don't really want an orange couch. I like a brighter orange than in these pics, but in smaller doses.
For more neutral uses of orange, I love terracotta and sandstone.
And fresh flowers (tropical, rather than mums) are my favorite way to work in orange and apricot in the really searingly bright saturated doses I love, but would NOT want to look at everywhere.
I LOVE orange!!! Bepsf, I also have amoeba/blob curtains in my living room!
Colophon, I hope you commit to that bed---it sounds fantastic!
orange is the best color ever!
i LOVE orange as an accent color. we have citrus orange pillows against a taupey-chocolate couch. if used in the right amounts, it adds enough energy to the place without being too much.
Where can I find the rug in the 2nd photo?
I want the Westelm Taksim rug in orange. But its all sold out. That was a swanky use of orange. Also West Elm had a red moroccan window rug that also sold out.
Anyone know where those can be found? I think they are a wonderful touch of color.
And the first pic is definitely more my style. Tasteful, global and colorful at the same time.
@EastVillage Amy: It's from the Rug Store!
@Everyone with Orange at Home: Upload your pics to the LA Flickr pool so we can see how you've used it! Had no idea there were so many orange lovers out there!
what's up with that first picture, the proportions seem off it looks like a model/doll house?
Laure, where is the Rug Store? I love the rug in the second photo as well, but came up with nothing when I googled the rug store. Or rather came up with too much! Please elaborate.
We have orange walls in our living room. Landlady thinks we're crazy and said it's like Day-Glo. It's really not THAT bright.
does anyone know where the yellow ottoman/ stool in the second picture is from?
