Thanks to Danny Seo over at Daily Danny for uncovering a simple, clever idea for creating your own wall decoration: thumbtacks. Admittedly, we've never had enormous respect for our horsehair plaster walls, moving our wall hangings all the time and leaving the marks to show for it. So this idea doesn't make us shudder the way it will for many of you...

But as Danny points out in his post, if you don't want to brutalize your walls, you could just get some cork tiles and use those as the backbone for your thumbtack art.
Have you ever tried this?

Needs kerning.
"Needs kerning." lol
It works well in this case because the tacks resemble bees. I'm guessing this is an art installation, not an actual sign.
That looks kind of gross.
excellent font choice
Cool. Love the interplay between the meaning of the word and its representation.
This might be a fun thing to do on an outdoor fence.
Very cool, but makes me feel squeamish all over.
this is BRILLIANT!!
totally.
This makes my skin crawl.
Why? This might be the answer to all those people who need to personalize their cubicals.
I love this
I like this. I can't think of anywhere inside my house where I would do it, but I do like it.
love it! What a clever boy...
Nice
if you're into typography but don't want to stab holes in things. you could do a stencil doormat with spray paint - just did a DIY post about this on my blog.
check it out if you're inclined.

This reminds me of another example of thumbtack typography taken to the extreme from the ad school at Wieden Kennedy.

I've wanted to do something similar since the moment I saw it, and I especially love the look of the clear tacks on white background
kimblela, that is a very cool sign - thank yuo for the link! very inspiring.
Kind of cool, kind of "redrum".Imagine 'kill', in a perfect Times font, in a corporate cubible...
Interesting, but lets leave these things for commercial advertising/signage!
I love this... I am making a single letter "E" for our last name on a cork board with a fancy black frame. I found wooden thumbtacks too which I think will look awesome!
