Using What You Have to Create Larger Storage "Unit"

Using What You Have to Create Larger Storage "Unit"

This was one of those moments when we reminded ourselves to practice what we preach. The premise of our redesign business is to use what you already have to make your space work for you. When we realized we needed more storage in our home office, it was so tempting to get in the car and go to Ikea...

To look for a less cluttered, streamlined storage piece. But we forced ourselves to think outside the box instead and use only what we had. Though it's not a perfect solution, we ended up stacking 3 different storage pieces to create one larger hybrid "unit". The top bookcase was given to us by a friend, the middle row includes 2 Ikea Traby shelf units that we were using in a different room but was not serving an essential service, and the bottom row consists of 2 modular units made by our brother twenty years ago! We predict some of you may have a fit about squeezing our cluttered bulletin board into that spot but please remember this is a real space and seeing those things in that spot is special to us.

Have you created a hybrid piece of furniture by disparate pieces? We'd love to see links to your photos!
