Ever had an awkward space or nook in your home that never felt quite right? And then one day, an a-ha moment comes along with all of the answers laid out for you. Initially, Gina of The Daily B was left perplexed on what to do with her home's eyesore — but soon came up with a creative and functional solution.

The original homeowner probably used the noticeable nook for a larger than life vase (the house was built in the 1980s). Since the space is right off the high-traffic entryway, Gina decided to repurpose the awkward area into something useful. The most glaring omission from her home's entryway was a coat closet, so Gina opted to go vertical and install vintage hooks for purses, scarves and jackets. Being super crafty, she also fashioned a cushion out of pieced-together foam and decorative fabric. A couple of pillows add a welcoming touch, turning a potential eyesore into a warm and functional space.

Nicely done. I love hooks!
So clever!
Inspiring and clever.
Looks great!
I long for awkward nooks...
Well done.
The aha moment has arrived! It's really appealing and not overdone. The hooks are a great choice. I might have gone for something framed and then wonder why it didn't work!
Thanks for the comments, everyone! My husband jokingly suggested we get a sculpture to put there (like a mini David)....I am glad my idea won out!

Me, too. And everyone needs a place to sit down for shoe changing. The pillows add a nice softening touch. Glad you won out, Gina!
Part of why this works is the ottoman just across the room set up with the pillows the same way....I think it looks great.
This is really well thought through and executed (that cushion pad must have been made specially). It looks terrific, as if that was how it was always meant to be.
@idontdobeige Thanks! And, yes, the cushion was a DIY. There are more details on my blog....
