First of all, it's kind of strange to look at vacation rentals in one's own city; a furnished apartment seems a bit more like playing house than a hotel does, and why would we do that in the town where we live? But second of all, how did we miss this place? The modern box sits on a corner in Capitol Hill, one of Seattle's densest, hippest, youngest neighborhoods.
But then again, we are talking about one of Seattle's densest, hippest, youngest neighborhoods, so perhaps we shouldn't be surprised. The building houses three thoughtfully laid-out units, each rentable at nightly rates very competitive with area hotels.
We wish we could find a bit more information on the history of the building, but maybe we'll just have to check it out first-hand.

Anybody know where I can find the couch of the first 2 pictures (or an approximation)? It would be perfect for me and mine.

That's a typical microfiber sectional and ottoman that's been split up and moved to opposite sides of the room.
Call me crazy, but for the kind of money they're asking I'd rather stay someplace special like Hotel Max and feel like i'm on vacation rather than paying someone to house sit.

I love Hotel Max. Stayed there just after they renovated.
Has anyone stayed at Harrison Modern? I have cousins who live in a super small place in Capitol Hill that can't accommodate all of us. Having an inexpensive place in the neighborhood where 4 or 5 of us can crash sounds like it could be appealing.
I realize it's a sectional; anybody know where I can find it? Thx, ATers.
I live in a very tourist city where rental homes/condos/villas are the norm and meet a variety of needs for different families/executive long term stays. This place would be on the high end cost wise....but worth it to many people.
I've been by this place many times in my travels over the hill as I live in one of the countless rental apts on the hill as a regular resident.
I think it's actually late 50's, perhaps early 60's when built and is about halfway up the west slope of the hill in a nice area of the neighborhood.
The Harrison Modern was build in 1951 and designed by Victor C Martin. It is a super cool 4 unit building that I was lucky enough to purchase in 1997. In 2007 I stayed in my first Vacation Rental and I was hooked..... I LOVE Hotels like Hotel Max for a 1 or 2 night stay but for any longer I want a groovy apartment in a cool neighborhood, like Capitol Hill, where I can have friends over and we can cook or not and hang out.... If you have any more questions about the the building or the Harrison Modern you can contact me through the website.
