I'm sure I'm the very first visitor to Paris to notice that many of the doors there are painted in various shades of blue: moody grey-blues, stormy ocean blues, even a cool turquoise here and there. Maybe it's the unique Parisian light, but these blues had me bitterly regretting the heretofore-luscious teal I'd chosen for my accent walls. Does this Parisian inspiration have you pulling out the paint chips?
Which is your favorite Parisian blue?

mmm, nice. They work especially well against the rough grey stone back drops.
Those doors are beautiful and so are the blue doors in Santorini island i saw vacationing there 2 yrs ago.
That third image is just GORGEOUS. I'm reading The Paris Wife right now, and I imagine Ernest Hemingway wandering streets that look just like this....
I love those doors. The colors, the style, the magnitude, amazing. Sad someone would graffiti over them.
My wife, Wendy, has been on a serious blue kick lately, and this has resulted in our new front door becoming a beautiful shade of blue. We finally got to the point in our salvaged door project where we started painting. You can see our blue door color here: http://www.oldtownhome.com/2011/8/22/While-the-Cats-Away-the-Mice-Will-Play/index.aspx
Let me know what you think.
Breathtaking. OTH, what a slick door!
Irony much? :P
I have always loved cerulean and peacock blues from before my visit to Paris this spring, but I was much more inspired after seeing how well these colours worked not only with neutral greens but warm shades as well. There were just as many fire-engine and cherry red doors across the city of Paris, as well as the blues you've mentioned.
Totally! I framed a picture of my favorite Parisian blue door---at Ralph Lauren of all places--and it's hanging by my front door! I love our turquoise door, but I kind of wish we'd gone with the Paris Blue. You can see them both here:

If you like Parisian blue doors, just google "Essaouira blue" and eat your heart out--- breath taking!
Nice post! Once I spent an entire day taking photos of doors in Paris.
I think the blue doors go really well with the grey walls because they have a hint of yellow in them. But I like teal better when the surroundings are white.
It's the double-centenarian stone buildings that make the blue. Can't imagine it working alongside modern finishes.
You focused on blue. I haven't been their since the 90's, so I don't know if people have moved on to blue. When I was there, I noticed various shades of green. I love the green at L'as du Fallafel.
