I live in the attic of an old home in Chicago and the 25 foot vaulted ceilings bring in more light than any other apartment I've ever had. I've had dreams of living in an attic since I was a little girl — I've always thought of them as such magical places!
Why did I love attic spaces so much as a child? I think it was all of the nooks and irregular spaces that vaulted ceilings often create. I could imagine myself pinning posters and drawings on the sloped ceiling. Luckily today I get to live in my dream space and unlike a lot of attics, mine happily features an open floor plan which allows it to feel incredibly spacious.

Love it. If we ever buy a house with an attic we've decided to turn it into a master suite...
The second last photo- from Evan's old Timey Apartment is one of my dream tours. Such a magical space, so inspiring!
I love attics!
I'm particularly taken by the one with the curved ceiling.
I love the shapes of these spaces, but if you ever move into one, I think step #1 has to be serious insulation!
These are so great! In Hawaii we don't have big attics, really more like crawl spaces for insulation only. Although, I've seen a few A frame pole houses that the top floor might be a very similar feel.
We don't have basements either.
what, no jordana brewster from instyle? hers is fantastic.
I love the first picture. The beds on the floor make the ceilings look so much higher and make the cozy space so inviting. The amazing lines of the ceilings in these pics makes me hate my gereric box of a room in my apartment.
Attic spaces are so nice.. They remind me of european apartments and houses! In australia you don't find them very often. As much as I like them though they can be a bit impractical, I bump my head if I get too close to the wall. Unco. Depends on the slope of the ceiling and if it goes all the way to the floor or not!
This is great inspiration! I am renovating my attic into a living/working space and it is shaped just like the one bottom row, middle. Now I feel like I have a few more tricks up my sleeve to keep the room interesting :)
