- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- It feels casual yet luxurious at the same time and is really restful. The mood in this bedroom is a departure from the rest of the suite, which makes it a nice retreat.
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- Decorate with what you love. Of all rooms, your bedroom should be the one that really reflects who you are. Start by knowing what you want to achieve in the bedroom and which tasks you have to accommodate (a reading space, separate storage for shoes) and make sure you address them, that way you will end up with a beautiful and functional space.
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- It's tiny, but it is uncluttered. I like to have enough surface area so that there can be a designated zone for everything from reading, to writing, to storing jewellery and magazines.

Wonderfully calming! Very nice!
Love your headborad! So pretty!
Great headboard!
you win.
Perfect blend of informal and luxurious! You should win. Love the colors, lamps and what you did with the short and wide window.
I love how everything looks so consciously pulled together, but without being a matching set! Also the little writing area is cute and clever.
love it!! and yay for surrey - from a fan in new westminster =)
source for the lighting fixture?
This room isn't my style, but I'm absolutely charmed. Great job!
I love this! I think it's the touches of red and that headboard that I really enjoy!
What a great idea to frame the fabric.
Those curtains are lovely! ...and I love your paint choices. I actually think that high windows are really hard to work with, but you made the window (and the entire room) look fabulous.
I love your idea to cover the curtain valance thingy with fabric. I'm from the same neck of the woods and those things are super common (and super dated) in older houses around here. Definitely going to steal that idea one day!
Ha! I had almost that exact headboard as a kid (but mine was 'natural' rather than this awesome red). I was constantly sproinging the curly things, and broke quite a few of them. Nice to see it fit in to an adult room too! I really like the matching red blanket on the bed.
Beautiful bed skirt.
Love the headboard, but also all the banding/piping; it created just the right amount of repetition of the theme without banging you over the head with it. This is a lovely room.
Not my style but it looks nice and neat. I have the side table in lime green (idea right). Love the lamps.
I meant ikea.
Very nice! Like others, I'm fond of the headboard painted red. Looks great with the green striped sheets and the wall color.
I would love to see a house tour...This is definitly a favorite.
Great headboard.Room looks so clean and bright.Like how your red and green decor does not look Christmas-y at all.
I had this headboard as a little girl too! I had a got pink one first and then a natural one. This looks great! I think this room is so pretty and charming.
Love the room, source for bedskirt please, it's beautiful.
from Surrey too- haha maybe we're neighbors! love the room!
cutie cute cute...
the color story is warm, but still fresh- a nice balance
Not my style either, but I am astounded by the skill. You have done wonders with the window treatments, lighting, colors of this room. Hat off. Really well done.
L O V E the headboard and all the other little touches of red! Inspirational!
this is great - looks like a room in a chic boutique hotel. very stylish yet warm, inviting and relaxing. nice! if the headboard is wicker, we had two of the same ones in white at my family's shore house in the 70s/80s. brings back memories!
I love that red blanket, anyone know where I can get one?
Wow, this is really lovely! I love the slightly exotic, polished look with the flashes of well-integrated red. It's very unique and well-designed. It's great to see something that doesn't look like it was lifted out of the pages of an Ikea catalogue.
PS - I would love to know where to find the little brass lamp on the secretary!
stunning. =)
Attractive color scheme and not overdone. You get my vote.
Robinson Lighting and Bath Centre (in Vancouver). I love the everything about this fixture EXCEPT - the glass plate on the bottom is painted, so when I installed the light it turned out that the light is too dim because it doesn't penetrate the painted surface well. I'd caution everyone about that, because in the showroom you can't tell how well the lighting will look in the room. If the glass is painted - the light will be dim, and if you're unhappy with that too bad - because you can't exchange once you've installed the fixture.
Sorry Marta, the skirt was bought over a decade ago...but I think it's from a bedding store called Ed's Linens.
It's a Chinese blanket I found at Value Village, haven't seen any similar ones retail unfortunately.
Walmart! :)
Thank you everybody for your lovely comments. I really appreciate your votes and encouragement! If you'd like to see more, you can head over to my blog -http://www.nostalgiainteriors.blogspot.ca - to follow along as I makeover my current bedroom.
Thanks again,

I really like this. Good job.
Love the colors/textures you went with. Some people may not agree with the recurring color scheme, but there's something to be said when someone can keep a constant color story, add textures, and not have it be boring. Great job.
What a fresh color scheme..I love the mustardy yellow with the red..so cozy and warm. This room has an Indian or Moroccan vibe..very pretty.
